Job Description
- Design, develop and troubleshoot solutions for specialized sites using industry standard technologies, particularly Drupal, CSS and JavaScript, but also including XHTML, XML and scripting languages, particularly PHP, but also including Perl, Python, or Ruby.
- Assess project requests and develop clear, accurate technical approaches for project work/solutions that will be developed both locally and offshore.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and/or automate technical solutions so that job functions can be performed more efficiently.
- Mentor other team members, both locally and offshore, in Drupal design and implementation approaches. This includes contributing to detailed written documentation and identifying and contributing to key curriculum needed for the team.
- Participate in technical reviews of code – both code developed by local and offshore staff.
- Communicate frequently with team members (both orally and in writing) to coordinate work efforts, and to provide information about project status, schedules, progress, design issues, and decisions.
- Participate in direct discussions with publication management and publishers to clarify technical work, firm up design issues and provide technical options for their requests.
- Work independently and as part of dynamic teams to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner. Regular and special project work may require design and development of mockups, prototypes, working models, as well as production applications.
Job Requirements
- BA in computer science or a related field or equivalent work experience required.
- 5+ years of development experience in a leadership capacity.
- Highly proficient technical skills/knowledge enabling you to work effectively with engineers and understand the technical aspects of the platform(s).
- Ability to effectively communicate constructively with demanding or challenging customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with executives, managers, and subject matter experts.
- Ability to assess project requirements and understand processes for gathering, validating and documenting.
- Ability to understand and create workflows of requirements (user journey, functional specification).
- Strong ability to translate business requirements to technical requirements that developers can use to implement
- Experience in Execution, Project Management and Change Management (with adherence to scope and budget).
