Job Description

The WFP Cairo Regional Bureau provides strategic guidance, policy/technical support and direction to WFP operations and activities in 18 countries: Algeria, Armenia, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kyrgyz Republic, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, State of Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine and Yemen. The Purpose of this job is to support the delivery of a professional, client-focused Services, partnering with managers to implement HR solutions in line with WFP corporate priorities.

ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

For the rollout of the SAP Logistics Execution Support System (LESS), the Regional office of World Food Programme in Cairo need a senior staff with knowledge of SAP for LESS rollout. The job will require extensive travel within North Africa, Middle East, Eastern Europe and Central Asia

JOB PURPOSE To support the roll out of LESS in the 16 countries for The WFP Regional Bureau.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority)
  • Contribute towards the development of logistics plans and processes ensuring compliance with wider logistics policies and WFP standards.
  • Support logistics projects or operational day-to-day activities following standard processes and contributing, directly or indirectly, to the effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Guide support staff, acting as a point of referral and supporting them with analysis and queries.
  • Collate data and contribute to preparation of accurate and timely reporting, supporting a WFP wide view of logistics activities that enables informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
  • Support the capacity building of WFP staff and partners for efficient and effective delivery of food assistance to beneficiaries (i.e. through contribution to the training materials).
  • Identify and build productive relationships with logistics colleagues and staff within the area of assignment to support an integrated approach to food assistance.
  • Contribute to, visibly support and assist implementation of the Logistics Execution Support System (LESS) as required.
  • Contribute to, implement and support LESS Implementation Strategy in CO and RB for Logistics Staff;
  • Receive and analyse Logistics support requests for business and system;
  • Provide the second level to end users in the form of ‘how to’ feedback, user guides, procedures and protocols;
  • Address specific support requests related to Logistics processes, master data management, data entry and data analysis;
  • Monitor status of Logistics support requests in the Region and ensure proper and timely follow up;
  • Monitor inventory management processes to track trends and account for the inventory status from source to beneficiary.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in SAP
  • Advanced / Strong knowledge of Logistics Processes
  • Capacity to learn fast from documentation and experience;
  • Capacity to transfer knowledge to colleagues;
  • Analytical skills;
  • Capacity to provide clear step-by-step instructions;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Understanding of WFP Supply Chain model and Programme business processes;
  • Experience in report writing.
  • STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, and Business Management or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
  • Language Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, Arabic.
