Job Description

  • Research new items to be added to the product range and present their cost price and discount rate in the range meeting to be discussed and decided on.
  • Negotiate prices and delivery terms with suppliers.
  • Source products from other suppliers as necessary to ensure lowest cost, best quality and on-time delivery, within a framework of efficiently utilizing suppliers’ capacities.
  • Decide on the selling price of the different product items following top management guidelines.
  • Negotiate promotion offers that are to be included in the promotion calendar and communicate them to the marketing department.
  • Contact and meet suppliers to solve problems as they arise and therefore maintain a smooth flow of supplies.
  • Responsible for establishing Marketing Intelligence and Information system for access to latest information and facts about customers behavior, competitive scenario, new product possibilities ,brand building, product launches, customer relationship management, promotions, events and other direct marketing activities.
  • To develop competitive marketing strategies for all merchandise categories and position each one of them distinctly to the mind of the customers and to constantly work for neutralizing competitors' strategies and tactics.
  • Analyze assigned product categories on scheduled basis, determining items to be ordered per forecasts and inventory targets, and place purchase orders accordingly.
  • Review product forecasts by item and recommend changes as needed, including changes in business (new or lost sales) when notified by Sales.
  • Confirm suppliers’ acceptance of purchase orders and update system as needed.
  • Develop the Own Brand to cover different customers requirements.
  • Provide the Marketing team with promotion plain (items, estimated quantities, store merchandising & discounts).
  • Analyze market information, follow new developments / trends in order to be updated on the existing situation on my market.
  • Solve all reorder & returns problems between suppliers – stores & warehouse.
  • Communicate with the warehouse items and quantities to be delivered and remaining stock available.
  • Business Development Agreements with suppliers.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years Supermarket experience in replenishing, Purchasing and demand planning is a MUST
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills
  • Demonstrated skills such as high initiative, results oriented, organization, planning, as well as very developed computer skills
  • Strong Excel Skill
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Must work effectively in a customer service-oriented team environment with Marketing, Sales, Finance and Supply Chain.
  • Strong organization, negotiation skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced data management skills
