    • Job Details:My work as a locum (freelance) pharmacist started in 2009. I worked on building good relationships with the companies I worked for in order to be asked to come back and work for them on a regular basis. I worked for various companies which differed from large multinational companies with thousands of employees to small pharmacies with only a very small number of staff. In order to become a successful locum, I had to be very flexible in work, I had to able to handle a busy pharmacy and a quiet one. Because I travelled to different pharmacies all over the city, I was met with a range of different work based environments, and I am glad to say I was able to handle them all. As well and being flexible in work environments, I was also able to handle the different members of staff and colleagues that I met across the different locations that I worked in, and that I still in work in. I am quite and easy character and I agree with most people, however I am assertive and I must get the job done whatever the circumstance. You must be punctual as a locum pharmacist, that requires planning, if you are going to be somewhere different everyday you must be able to plan how you will be there on time, with regards to travelling. This is important, patients require your presence at the pharmacy and you have a reputation to uphold for yourself and for your profession. As well as different members of staff, you also frequently meet pharmacy students, and pre-registration pharmacists. As a qualified pharmacist, you should be to teach them skills they need, and information they need, when I worked with Pharmacy students, I realised that I do like to teach and hope it can be a profession I will look into. As a locum pharmacist you must be able to assess a situation and delegate if necessary. You must be able to categorise the importance of each situation and work accordingly to it.
