The challenge was to convert an export oriented manufacturing unit into a domestic retail brand of Home and Gifting. The business model compelled marketing in a highly constrained budget mainly depending on Public Relations, content marketing, email marketing, corporate communication, media relations and affiliate marketing, while all the time concentrating efforts to acquire strategic locations to set up retail outlets. Airport Retailing in early days of brand episodesilver, in 2007, was a fairly complex project for me with just about 8 months of experience in high street retailing till then. The goal was to have a live advertisement, a customer engagement platform in the form of a self sustaining business unit. This was the time GMR was planning for T3 to be operational by 2009. The brand presentation to GMR’s design team was made to stand out in the crowd, positioned not as a silverware home accessory retailer, but as a novel gift shop with the glitter of silver and Indian crafting traditions. The bid was reasonably made, which resulted in the grant of 3 expansive outlets in all 3 departure SHAs of the Delhi Domestic and International Airports from 2010 till 2015. Besides these, I played a pivotal role in launching the "silver care booklet" as a standard issues with every packaged product, the official website and the corporate brochure.
