Achievements
One of the achievements I have taken part in was to improve the Cambridge PET Results at Jazan International College. Over 3 years, and since Saudi Colleges of Excellence decided to use Cambridge PET to assess Saudi Students` English proficiency, test results hovered around 30 %. Saudi Students found it very difficult to pass the PET at A2 or B1 which was needed to graduate. After analysing the results, we found out that they scored the lowest in reading and writing. In order to improve the two skills, we encouraged students to read by creating “Reading Clubs”. We also provided each classroom with what we called reading corners which include magazines, short stories and books about interesting topics in order to attract them to the habit of reading. As for writing, as the lead teacher, I moved around the classrooms and made sure that writing is practiced everyday even if the lesson is not basically about writing.
