Remit expanded during this period with additional responsibility for Master Planning & Landscape Divisions as well as the Head of Architecture role. • Accomplished monthly, quarterly and year-end savings to the allocated budget within the COWI Bahrain Architectural /Buildings Service Cluster, through prudent management of staff costs (manhours /overheads /expenses) & the selective implementation of manpower outsourcing in collaboration with COWI’s Qatari, Omani & Danish operational divisions. • Played a key role in successfully holding and sustaining a local departmental quarterly Operational Profit /EBIT target of BHD 120,000.00 during an adverse period of political /civil unrest which stifled the country’s inward flows of investment and which challenged (during its peak) the safety & security of numerous high profile operational premises. • Successfully identified several critical architectural design issues within five (5) Building Cluster Projects which led to the elimination and /or simplification of overly complex circulation zones and inefficient, excessive MEP service cores. This resulted in combined savings of approximately (Equivalent) GBP $9.9M, which were subsequently redistributed to areas offering greater commercial viability for Clients & Stakeholders. Supplemented these efficiency measures by initiating & driving through a 2nd tier Value Engineering Appraisal during pre-Contract negotiations with Contractors & Specialists. • Spearheaded COWI’s winning architectural tender for a prestigious Royal Archives building in Bahrain worth (Equivalent) GBP $48.8M, consisting of digital public library with Royal archives, reading rooms, offices, lecture halls and a restaurant, with a total area of approx. 11,000m2. This was a duel role consisting of Local Technical Management/ Architect of Record Services & Construction Contract Management during post-contract, under a JV agreement with Foster & Partners. (Project ultimately shelved for political & financial reasons during civil unrest & economic volatility in Bahrain).

This proved instrumental in achieving timeous approvals from National Code Authorities, resulting in the project’s construction milestones being exceeded for several key superstructure components. • Significantly re-organized the zoning and staffing allocations within our Site Office facilities as part of a wider management drive on the (aforementioned) AED 1.4Bn mixed-use waterfront development, which resulted in a substantial improvement to the project team dynamic and led to a marked increase in the quality and flow of technical communication between Joint Venture Clients, Building Contractors and Head Office executives.
