In my first year at college, I founded Enactus Zewail city with another friend. Enactus is all about some students do a project from A to Z that should affect the society economically, socially and environmentally. Me and my team chose to work in AL-Waraq area in Cairo which is famous for burning the rice straw. We thought that we can grow mushrooms out of this rice straw instead of burning it. So, we went and taught the women there how to do the process of growing mushrooms using rice straw and sell these fresh mushrooms in the markets. This way, women learned how to make their own money. Thus, this project had a great effect on the social and economic life of these women in addition to avoiding the air pollution caused by burning rice straw.I participated in the famelab competition which was organized by the British council. This competition is about giving a three-minute science talk to a non-science audience. I made it to the final in this competition.
