• Job Details:The Lead economist is assigned the responsibility for leading a case handling team of economists- and lawyers; he/s is responsible for guiding their technical operations to ensure cases are well argued, and deliver tangible results. Job Duties • Participate and lead teams to provide high quality quantitative and qualitative research for the cases; • Prepare general work plan for the division and case-specific work plans; • Conduct economic analysis and joint research with other agencies and Government departments, on issues that include a competition dimension as assigned; • Liaise with governmental bodies (ministries, authorities,etc) and private sector competent entities in order to conduct division cases/projects/initiations; • Ensure economic methodologies, instruments and technologies are appropriate to the needs of the ECA; • Prepare with the team ECA periodicals and annual reports; • Drafting cases' reports, policy papers and recommendation notes pertaining to the relevant market/case; • Develop proposals for potential violations/infringements in the relevant markets; • Attend training courses, seminars, meetings and workshops locally and abroad; • Represent the Authority before several entities locally and abroad; • Ensure that all teams’ work activities are in compliance with the existing competition laws and regulations; • Use the status of law enforcement power as regulated by the law and attends court cases referred to the general attorney if required.
