- Job Details: Operations: diverse operating crew assisting in the pre-operational phase to prepare the facility for operations. This will include tasks such as development of DCS interface, Factory Acceptance Testing, development of commissioning and operational procedures, development of training materials and participation in commissioning and start-up of the PP facility. During the operational phase, PP utilizes operational knowledge, expertise and skills to improve plant performance and operating discipline. The Control Room Start Up Key Activities and Responsibilities: Support PP Operations team in the development of commissioning plans and procedures to successfully start-up the integrated HPC Site and allow for a smooth transition and hand-off from projects to operations. Provide input to project(s) to ensure the safe, compliant and reliable design of project assets Provide input into the development of standard operating procedures, operating manuals, spec and targets, Continually operates DCS and monitors process displays to optimize process conditions through real time and data analysis (PI Historian) to ensure plant production and quality are maximized in a safe and efficient manner Highlights alarm management and/or alarm rationalization issues to operations and controls engineers Provides effective troubleshooting of process, product quality, safety, environmental and equipment problems, with understanding of potential contributions from upstream and downstream operations Ensure PP product quality targets are met; work closely with laboratory and analytical staff, and interpret product quality results Communicate efficiently and effectively with cross shift, with shift crew members, and across operating areas, through verbal and written methods, including shift log books Assist in start-up, shutdown and maintenance activities as required Review and approve safety system impairments required for maintenance work Participate and support initiatives to improve safety culture at all levels of operations Provide training to operators and plant personnel (control room training, field operator training, equipment training, procedural training, critical task training, etc.) Maintain qualification in all panel and field areas for the efficient and safe operation of the PP area assigned to, i.e. reaction, extrusion, purification, control room etc. Issue safe work permits for all maintenance work activity within the PP facility Lead operating activities within assigned area of the PP plant and progress in increasing levels of responsibility Complete detailed rounds every shift and meticulously record readings and observations. Identify and escalate any issues that may affect the safe operation of the pressure equipment. i.e. damage, leaks, corrosion, temperature, abnormal noise, vibration, etc. Safely isolate (Lock out/Tag out), vent and drain, and prepare equipment for maintenance, startup and shutdown activities. Understand and adhere to Site and Corporate procedures, safety and environmental standards Respond to emergencies by following established safe operating procedures; participate in the Site Emergency Response Team Strong analytical troubleshooting skills, communication & technical writing abilities, Strong experience in polymers/plastics production (preferably Polypropylene Unipolar licensed technology), refinery, petrochemical and/or fractionation processes Strong experience in operation of reactors, extruders, heat exchangers, distillation columns, and compressors.
