• Job Details:Strategy:  Actively managing risk and dealing with safety, security and crime prevention on the Mayoko Iron Ore project in the Congo, taking responsibility for the implementation of Exco-approved strategies and standards.  Accountable for effective monitoring processes, implementation and maintenance of a crime prevention plan, as well as an effective intelligence network  Developing threat or vulnerability analyses to determine the probability, frequency and severity of criminal activities and the implementation and maintenance of a personnel security plan and screening procedures prior to the appointment of staff. Risk management and control:  Evaluate security to improve methods and the prevention of losses whilst developing employee security awareness programmes to achieve objectives.  Maintain confidentiality and assist with investigations of reported commercial crimes, including at other business units, on the instructions of the Group Risk Manager.  Setting up effective electronic access control measures and regulate the access control system.  Collecting and preserving evidence to support post-investigation disciplinary actions, criminal or civil proceedings or arbitration.  Act as inspector of explosives whilst monitoring activities and mass meeting with the potential to result in industrial actions or disruptions of production. Specialised Support:  Provide management and personnel with accurate and timely advice on performance requirements and contractual terms for security vendors.  Prepare monthly reports for the Risk Control regional manager and ensure that reported crimes are thoroughly investigated while delivering complete reports and recommendations to Line Management, outlining preventative actions.  Initiate criminal prosecutions in cooperation with Management; conduct monthly audits, identified by the business unit; report to the Business Unit manager and Management and identify and report potential security threats to the Business Unit manager. Compliance:  Maintain discipline to ensure compliance with codes of practice, instructions, procedures, directives, permissions, exceptions and more, issued by Mine management, the Regional or Group Risk manager whilst investigating breaches and contraventions.  Ensure compliance with the provisions of the Mine Health and Safety Act (Act No.29 of 1996) and related international safety legislation. Customer and Client Relationships:  Support the core business by building appropriate stakeholder relationships to enhance the corporate profile.  Meet business needs and promote employee satisfaction by managing internal and external relationships such as interfaces with service providers and other business units.  Represent Exxaro in a professional manner by taking part in sustainable community projects dictated by business unit commitments. Staff Supervision:  Employ sound performance management and transformational leadership to optimise, motivate and empower team, promote teamwork and create individual development plans for staff members  Oversee recruitment and HR-related activities and financial competency development of staff while managing internal Risk Control and contracted workers.  Continuously evaluate external security service provider. Budget and Cost Control:  Manage budget and operating costs and make sure that effective financial controls are in place.
