• Job Details:deal with each step of the shipping process • track shipments and communicate with clients about the package's progress • coordinate shipping with customs agents for clearance on overseas deliveries • Deal with quotes from prospective shippers and handle claims with insurance companies if any shipment problems happen to occur. • provide efficient delivery logistics through data management • fill out export documentation • compute international fees for each shipment, and keep track of shipment payments and quotas • using automated systems that can identify shipments, collect data, and register packages with government agencies • handling all Sea shipments from point of origin to destination point • Partner with freight forwarders, ocean carriers, trucking companies or DC receiving, and ensure compliance with internal control procedures • Support daily compliance issues that delay the clearance of goods through the import entry process, and anticipate problems, diffuse situations and ensure that all freight is picked up and delivered on time • Track containers and resolve issues with ocean carrier, broker, or trucking company • Monitor container deliveries and empty returns against free time to minimize detention charges • Audit, process billings, and resolve payment issues for brokers, forwarders, truckers, and ocean carriers • Utilize metrics for critical events which include scheduling response cycle time, actual schedule versus buyer’s requested ship date and published lead time, and on-time shipping/on-time delivery performance • Assist DC operations with issue resolution for shipments received • Review delivery schedules and general operations and recommend service improvements or development of new deliverables • Complete specific goals, initiatives and long-range strategic objectives as assigned by the Import Logistics manager • Maintain functional expertise in the international freight movement and customs broker practices • Develop a thorough understanding of Academy policies, procedures and safety rules • coordinates the movement of goods in and out of the country, ensures compliance with customs barrier control matters, and negotiates freight rates and delivery schedules.
