- Job Details:U.S. Naval Medical Research Unit No.3 (NAMRU#3), Cairo/Egypt is a worldwide leader in public health and medical research which is affiliated to the US Navy and the US Department of State (DoS). NAMRU3 is a recognized partner of the World Health Organization (WHO) and CAP certified. as Medical Research Technologist (Acting Lab-manager): • Conducted public health capacity building projects in Africa and the Middle East. My role as project manager included initiating/negotiating project protocol with governmental representatives, managing budget and cost control, monitor day-to-day operation performance, communicate regulatory affairs and acts as a liaison officer. I have succeeded in reducing the average time needed for protocol approvals and study initiation from (>90 days) to (≈30 days) by establishing country specific SOP for submissions and contacts-bank. • Manage international workshops and conferences with collaborating institutions. My role exceeded teaching and lecturing to include administrative support: Manage training curriculum, arrange housing and hotel reservation, workshop printing materials, trainee transportation…etc. • Conducted research projects in the fields of drug development, environmental risk assessment and vector control. Monitored/coordinated Clinical trials as a member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) • Coordinated supply chain and cold chain for medical samples: I have established a supply chain grid and rotation plan that allowed 100% efficiency in transporting medical samples to the headquarter and significantly reduced transportation expenses. The main problem for NAMRU3 was that medical samples requires special conditions during transportation, huge regulatory burdens (+high expenses) when transported using commercial services. • Participated in designing NAMRU-3 Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) program: an In-House developed Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that allows centralized control and objective evaluation for the activities of the different laboratories, coordinate between different projects especially when sharing the same samples, cost control, improving utilization and providing real-time reports of the operations to be presented to the head quarter and funding agencies • Co-Author of 7 peer-reviewed scientific publication • Safety and biosafety area coordinator. Experience in BSL3&4. Experience in OSHA guideline.
