Managing international remittances and settlement of cash against documents (d/a, d/p) transactions in accordance with business requirements. Overseeing end-to-end bulk shipping arrangements, including sea freight negotiations, marine transit insurance, quality assurance and control (qa-qc), bill of lading (bl) preparation and switching, certificate of analysis (coa) and certificate of origin (coo) management, as well as customs clearances through chas and vessel agents. Managing the sea freight settlement process, including dispatch and demurrage review, final negotiations, and remittance processing. Procuring trade-worthy raw materials and consumables, including coking coal, thermal coal, lam coke, pearl coke, iron ore, ferroalloys, ladle and furnace refractory, dolomite stone, limestone, graphite electrodes, soda ash (dense & light), and granite slabs & blocks, ensuring quality and cost efficiency. Developing and executing strategies for international merchant trade, including fob-to-fob, fob-to-cfr/cif, and high seas sale (hss) transactions to optimise trade efficiency and profitability. Planning and structuring long-term contracts for sea freight and transshipment of bulk cargo to support efficient and cost-effective merchant trade operations. Leading and supervising the team to ensure the timely nomination of vessels by owners/brokers as per agreed laycan days at the load port. Planning vessel loading schedules and arrivals to minimize waiting time and demurrage costs while coordinating with shippers for vessel acceptance at both loading and discharging ports. Managing and leading the team in coordinating with transhipping vessels (tv) to transfer excess cargo from ocean-going vessels (ogv), ensuring optimal draft reduction for safe berthing at the port. Directly overseeing the team managing daily operations, including laytime calculations, issuance of letters of indemnity (loi), processing lc discounting documents, handling sale bill discounting, and managing shipping documentation. Conducting vendor performance assessments based on key criteria, including rejection rates, quality and price consistency, market competitiveness, timely delivery, and credit terms to ensure optimal supplier reliability and efficiency. Analyzing and evaluating existing processes and procedures to identify inefficiencies, conducting critical assessments, and implementing improvement measures to optimise operational efficiency. Led the drafting and implementation of a global standard contract in compliance with internal and external audit guidelines. Established a framework where vendors executed the standard contract periodically, streamlining negotiations and simplifying recurring trade contract execution.
