This project is dedicated to design and implement attitude, altitude and position control systems for a quadrotor.

At the beginning of the work, the quadrotor was analyzed, and a continuous time invariant nonlinear mathematical model was derived. This mathematical model was linearized using small disturbance theory to help investigate theoretically the effect of different control techniques and the results were compared with experiments made using test benches.

For the control system design, PD-A controller was introduced and compared to PID and PD controllers theoretically and experimentally. Upon the results obtained, PD-A controller was chosen for attitude, altitude and position control. This work shows also that it is possible to achieve quadrotor position hold and trajectory following using low cost sensors. Experimental results for attitude, altitude, position hold and trajectory following are presented.

Advanced control techniques, like adaptive control, were also implemented on half quadrotor. Simulation and actual results for various adaptive control techniques are presented.

At the end of the work, advantages of the chosen control system are discussed and suggestions for future work are declared.
