General Description

Graduate Research / Teaching Assistant (GRTA) Scholarship Khalifa University’s interdisciplinary Master’s degree and Ph.D. programs are focused on the skills and sectors in greatest demand regionally and internationally. Our internationally renowned faculty give students hands-on training and guidance to become world-class problem-solvers. Students work in our cutting-edge labs and on-site with our industry partners to hone their scientific and technical skills.
To date, Khalifa University has awarded over 1,800 masters and doctoral degrees to qualifying students.
Graduate programs, at both Master’s and PhD levels, are offered in both the College of Engineering and the College of Arts and Sciences. The University offers 18 Master’s degree programs, of which some offer optional concentrations, and two Ph.D. degree programs, one of which offers eleven optional concentrations.
The GRTA scholarship is available to qualify international students pursuing graduate study at Khalifa University on a full-time basis.
Khalifa University of Science and Technology offers this scholarship to help employed UAE Nationals undertake graduate studies on a part-time basis. The scholarship provides full coverage of tuition fees.

ELIGIBILITIES

  • Nationality: 
  1. Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Cyprus, Djibouti, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, Yemen
  2. Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering (offered for UAE and Saudi nationals only). - Doctor of Philosophy in Nuclear Engineering (offered for UAE and Saudi nationals only). - Master of Arts in International and Civil Security (Program offered to UAE Nationals only).
  • Required English tests: 
  1. TOEFL-IBT 91/120 MIN. Score (The minimum level of English proficiency in the form of an iBT TOEFL (internet-based test) score of 91 or equivalent)
  2. IELTS 6.5 /9 MIN. Score (Minimum level of English proficiency in the form of academic IELTS score of 6.5)
  • Required tests:
  1.  GRE 260 /340 MIN. Score (Minimum quantitative score of 150 in the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for all programs, with the exception of Master of Engineering in Health, Safety and Environment Engineering and the Master of Arts in International and Civil Security, where a minimum threshold is not set. Applicants for all programs should attempt all three sections of the GRE)
  2. GRE 260 /340 MIN. Score (Minimum quantitative score of 150 in the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for admission to all Doctorate programs. Applicants for all programs should attempt all three sections of the GRE)

  1. Bachelor Degree:  3/4 MIN. GPD (MASTER’S PROGRAM APPLICANTS: Completed Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent, from an accredited institution)
  2. Master Degree: 3.25/4 MIN. GPA (DOCTORATE PROGRAM APPLICANTS: Completed Master’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum CGPA of 3.25 out of 4.0, or equivalent, from a reputable accredited institution)
  • Other requirements
  • Sign a contract.
  • All graduate students admitted under a Khalifa University scholarship must sign the relevant award contract or agreement before the end of the Add/Drop period in the first semester of registration.
  • Terms and Conditions.
  • Students must abide by the terms and conditions stipulated in the award contract or agreement to maintain scholarship eligibility. 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Research proposal: Research Statement (500-1,000 words); for PhD candidates.
  • Statement of Purpose: Statement of Purpose (500 – 1,000 words); for master and PhD candidates.
  • Recommendation letter/Reference Letter: Minimum of two referee recommendations; for master and Ph.D. candidates.
  • Other: Admission interview for master and PhD candidates.
  • Degree Certificate: Certified copy of Bachelor’s/Master’s degree certificate.
  • Other: Equivalency certificate issued by the UAE Ministry of Education for applicants that have graduated from institutions outside of the UAE.
  • Official Transcript: Official transcript showing the grading scale.
  • Test Certificate: English language proficiency score certificate (IELTS, TOEFL or EmSAT). Official TOEFL score reports can be sent directly by your institution to Khalifa University of Science and Technology using the institutional TOEFL code 0960.
  • Test Certificate: Graduate Record Examination (GRE) score report. Official score reports can be sent directly to Khalifa University of Science and Technology using the institutional GRE code 0822.
  • CV/Resume: Detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV).
  • Photo: Passport-style photograph on a white background. must be in JPEG format with a maximum file size of 2MB
  • Valid passport: Valid passport. International applicants who reside in the UAE should also upload a clear copy of their valid UAE visa.
  • Other: Family Book (Khulasat Al Qaid – UAE National applicants only).
  • Valid passport/National ID: Valid UAE national ID card (for national and international applicants who currently reside in the UAE)
  • Other: Peer-reviewed Journal Publication (if available) for PhD Candidates.
