Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE
Responsible for the ongoing maintenance, growth and development of a large scale server farm running primarily on *NIX platforms
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the system environments.
- Updating the technical documentation and the team knowledge base.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administrations tasks.
- Mentor and develop junior team members of system engineers as required.
- Assess new technologies and products, applying industry best practices and methodologies to engineering and operations activities.
- Participate in the overall secure design and performance of system/servers environment.
- Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
- Take lead in resolving operational issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement necessary corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
Job Requirements
- Bachelor degree from a reputable university (Communications engineering or computer science background is preferred).
- 3-5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Proven experience supporting Unix/Linux systems. Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL.
- Strong understanding of NGINX, Apache, BIND, WAF, TCP/IP stack, Load Balancers.
- Proven experience of UNIX Scripting, Bash, Python Automation.
- Hands-on experience working on Docker and container orchestrations – Kubernetes.
- Hands-on experience on HA Solutions based on MySQL, PostgreSQL and MongoDB Architecture .
- Hands-on experience with Public Cloud Infrastructure – Microsoft Azure and AWS.
