Job Description
1. Safety Program Development & Implementation
- Develop, implement, and maintain HSE policies tailored to water treatment and STP operations.
- Ensure compliance with national and international safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001).
- Prepare and update safety manuals, emergency response plans, and risk assessments.
2. Site Inspections & Audits
- Conduct regular inspections of treatment plants, pipelines, confined spaces, and hazardous zones.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor use of PPE and ensure proper safety signage and equipment are in place.
3. Training & Awareness
- Organize and deliver safety training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Provide toolbox talks and refresher courses on chemical handling, confined space entry, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain training records and ensure certifications are up to date.
4. Incident Management
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and recommend preventive measures.
- Liaise with emergency services and regulatory bodies when required.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, permits, and safety meetings.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations related to wastewater treatment and chemical disposal.
- Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous communication programs.
6. Equipment & Hazardous Materials Oversight
- Monitor storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals used in treatment processes.
- Ensure proper functioning and calibration of safety equipment
- Oversee inventory and distribution of PPE and safety gear.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Engineering, or related field.
- Certification in Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA).
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in industrial safety, preferably in water/wastewater or infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of confined space entry, chemical safety, and emergency response.
- Excellent communication, training, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work in high-risk environments and respond to emergencies.
