Job Description

Purpose of the position

The Area Manager manages and partners with the project managers at Toshka to ensure that the progress of each project is on schedule and within our strict quality guidelines for the on-time delivery of projects. Plan, direct, or coordinate, usually through project managers, activities concerned with the project's systems. Participate in the conceptual development of projects and oversee their organization, scheduling, and budgeting. Overall responsibility for project execution, ensuring that the project is delivered within contract requirements and Al-Gammal standards of quality and safety.

  • Coordinates and supervises all project manager's activities within a specific Division Area (Toshka).
  • Oversees ordering materials and follows up on inspections as necessary throughout the process.
  • Acts as a management resource for project managers overseeing projects, assisting them with scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor management, timelines, and inquiries.
  • Maintains project schedules for the area, identifies problems, and provides solutions, emphasizing Cycle Time adherence.
  • Ensures compliance with development and engineering plans and specifications.
  • Handles all escalations as identified by the Chief Operation Officer.
  • Responsible for planning and directing work and appraising performance.
  • Makes recommendations on promotions, transfers, salary actions, hiring, disciplinary discussions, and terminations.
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing to meet department needs.
  • Responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering Toshka projects and supporting activities, including planning, procurement, start-up, executing, and prime contract close-out.
  • Overall responsibility for project execution, ensuring that the project is delivered within contract requirements and Al-Gammal standards of quality and safety.
  • Manage budgets and schedules, manage performance, report progress, and initiate action to ensure project objectives and plans are met and work is within budget.
  • Create a roadmap for project success, understanding all the components of your projects and finding ways to meet project deliverables.
  • Write detailed and effective bid packages, ensuring seamless delivery of your project and always finding the best value for Al-Gammal.
  • Promotes job site safety, and encourages safe work practices.
  • Provide final review and approval of all projects.
  • Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
  • Provides continuous coaching about functional and leadership standards (technical skills and behavior).
  • Track and understand all project costs at a fundamental level, try to drive costs down, and suggest value-engineered proposals with thorough first principles analysis.
  • Maintains positive relationships with project managers, site managers, engineers, customers, contractors, suppliers, inspectors, and employees. 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 15 years working in Contracting Companies, with at least 8 years managing both projects and people.
  • Relevant industry experience (Drilling, Infrastructure, Electric) in the same or similar area.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering or Project Management or equivalent. 
  • Ability to plan, organize, manage and supervise activities of direct reports.
  • Capacity to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports and blueprints.
  • Proficient knowledge and proven delivery on Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Safety, and Controls Scopes.
