Job Description

The Human Resources Jr. Generalist position is responsible for all aspects of Human Resources including employee relations, recruitment, employee training and development, policy interpretation, and EDD claims as it relates to Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission

Working on a cross-functional work team and under the guidance of the HR Manager, the Junior HR Generalist will be responsible for all HR related activities of employees on programs managed by the team as it relates to Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, and participates in the hiring process of employees.
  • Coordinates new hire orientations when applicable.
  • Ensures that the proper new hire paperwork and onboarding is completed and processed in HRIS system.
  • Coordinates with Payroll and Benefit personnel as needed to ensure the proper HR processing occurs for employees according to the appropriate payroll cycle.
  • Under the guidance of the HR Manager, assists in addressing employee relations issues, including conflict resolution and workplace investigations, and provides guidance and documentation related to disciplinary actions and terminations.
  • Ensures that information changes and termination paperwork is completed and processed in HRIS system.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion at all times.
  • Responsible for Audit, review and code all H.R.-related invoices while liaising with the Finance and Accounting Department to ensure proper breakdowns, coding and allocation of all vendor billing.
  • Responsible for performing accurate HR file audits to ensure that all required documents are collected and are maintained inside of employee files.
  • Provides accurate clerical support duties for the H.R. department.
  • Including departmental filing, answering the phones, emails, and other miscellaneous duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as an HR Generalist
  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws
  • Outstanding knowledge of MS Office; HRIS systems (e.g. PeopleSoft) will be a plus
  • Excellent communication and people skills
  • Aptitude in problem-solving
  • Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach
  • BSc/BA in Business administration or relevant field
  • Additional HR training will be a plus
