Job Description

  • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Section Head Engineer to lead our electrical and automation maintenance team in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a solid track record in the food industry, specifically with pasta, sauce, and concentrate production lines, including their associated packaging systems.
  • You will be responsible for ensuring maximum uptime of all electrical equipment, leading troubleshooting efforts, and driving continuous improvement in our automation systems. This role requires deep, hands-on expertise with Programmable Logic Controllers (PICs/PLCs) , the ability to interpret and modify control panel drawings, and a strict adherence to food safety regulations.
  • Key Responsibilities
  • 1. Leadership & Maintenance Management
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the team of electrical technicians and engineers.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance programs for all electrical equipment to minimize unplanned downtime .
  • Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrical systems specific to pasta production linessauceconcentrate evaporation systems, and high-speed packaging machinery (flow wrappers, case packers, palletizers) .
  • Manage the electrical spare parts inventory, ensuring critical spares are available to support continuous production.
  • 2. Automation & Controls (PIC/PLC Focus)
  • Serve as the site expert for  PLC controls
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts during complex automation failures .
  • Modify, optimize, and upload/download PLC programs to improve machine efficiency and reliability.
  • Work with Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and SCADA systems to monitor and control process parameters (temperature, viscosity, flow rates) critical for sauce and concentrate quality .
  • 3. Technical Drawings & Projects
  • Read, interpret, and modify electrical control panel drawings and schematics. Ensure all as-built drawings are updated to reflect changes made during troubleshooting or projects .
  • Lead electrical improvement projects, including control panel upgrades, motor control center (MCC) modifications, and the integration of new equipment into existing production lines.
  • Design and specify electrical components for system upgrades, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • 4. Food Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all electrical maintenance activities comply with strict food safety standards, including HACCPGMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) , and ISO .
  • Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that electrical work does not compromise product integrity or hygiene (e.g., specifying IP-rated enclosures, hygienic design principles).
  • Participate in internal and external audits related to food safety and plant safety.
  • 5. Continuous Improvement
  • Analyze equipment downtime data to identify root causes and implement permanent corrective actions .
  • Collaborate with production and process engineers to optimize line performance and reduce waste.
  • Stay current with new automation technologies relevant to the food and beverage industry .

Job Requirements

  • Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A licensed professional engineer is a plus .
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in electrical engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, specifically with pasta, sauce, concentrates, or liquid processing .
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Technical Skills (Mandatory):
  • PLC Programming & Troubleshooting: Extensive hands-on experience.
  • Control Panel Expertise: Must be highly proficient in reading and interpreting electrical control panel drawings.
  • Industrial Automation: Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), sensors (temperature, pressure, level), motor controls, and industrial networking (Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP) .
  • Packaging Systems: Strong knowledge of the electrical control systems on high-speed packaging equipment .
  • Software: Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical .
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to interact with production, quality, and senior management.
  • Ability to work under pressure during production stoppages and make quick, informed decision
