Job Description

Chief accountant plays important role in the organization as the head accountant in the accounts department. Duties include overseeing: month-end accounting activities such as reconciliations and journal entriesPreparing and analyzing financial records. In this role, he should demonstrate his management skills and accounting expertise in a variety of personal and corporate accounting practices, including overseeing payroll and taxes. He must be highly accurate and efficient, utilizing his vast knowledge of the current tax code, and, above all else, ensuring that consistent, accurate accounting services.

The functions of a chief accountant include:

  • Planning for control
  • Reporting and interpreting
  • Evaluation and consulting
  • Tax administration:
  • Government reporting

Chief Accountant Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the entire accounting team
  • Conduct all necessary training to keep the team’s skills and knowledge up to date
  • Ensure that all necessary documents are requested, collected, compiled and maintain highly organized and updated files
  • Review corporate income tax returns to ensure accuracy
  • Oversee the processing of payroll taxes
  • Monitor and mentor/train junior staff, clerks, and bookkeepers
  • Detect and address potential compliance issues proactively
  • Maintain compliance with all regulations at all times
  • Maintain constant communication with his team, other colleagues, vendors & clients
  • See that tax consults and onboarding procedures are in place
  • Work collaboratively with other teams to achieve shared goals
  • Report directly to the finance manager

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years experience in management
  • Minimum 7 years experience in the accounting field
  • Extensive corporate tax experience
  • Exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Office and databases
  • Expertise working with accounting systems and financial statements
  • Consistent, accurate, and thorough with an eye for details
  • Exceptional organizational skills and aptitude for numbers
  • Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal and outstanding phone and email etiquette
  • Able to thrive in a deadline-driven environment
  • Able to motivate the team and lead by example
  • above Experience required Fluent in English (Oral as well as Written)
