About the job Legal Counsel (Emirati)
Our client is a government authority responsible for the creation and development of a sustainable defense and security industry in the UAE. Their HQ is in Abu Dhabi where they are looking to hire an Emirati Legal Counsel for their Legal Affairs Team. The person would be reporting to the Chief Legal Affairs Counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provision of legal guidance and compliance assurance with UAE and international laws.
- Study legal documentation and draft standard legal documents.
- Conduct legal due diligence and manage legal contracts/agreements, among other technical competencies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6-8 years of relevant experience in international law firms or corporate legal departments.
- Bachelor's degree in Law.
- Professional qualification in the UAE and recognized jurisdiction.
- Admitted to practice law in a recognized jurisdiction.
Functional Responsibilities -
- Offer professional legal guidance and opinions to the company under the Chief Legal Counsel's guidance.
- Support the Chief Legal Counsel in project negotiations and providing legal counsel to safeguard the company from potential legal repercussions.
- Interpret and elucidate statutory provisions and legal processes to internal divisions, ensuring adherence.
- Analyze documents, contracts, MoUs, and correspondence from a legal perspective to safeguard the company's interests.
- Prepare litigation cases and review transaction-related documents involving the company's participation.
- Create standard legal contracts and agreements as per directives from the Chief Legal Counsel.
- Collaborate with external legal firms to provide legal backing for company projects.
- Aid the Chief Legal Counsel in offering well-researched advice to divisions and subsidiaries on business-related legal matters.
- Contribute to standard legal document development for streamlined departmental services.
- Stay updated on law-related developments and government regulations, enhancing personal expertise.
- Assist senior members in disseminating the company's legal stance among the Legal team.
- Maintain a comprehensive legal database comprising original documents and templates.
- Execute additional relevant duties as instructed by the Chief Legal Counsel.
