Job Description

This post is for talented Game Designer with experience in 3D level design using unity game engine and with aesthetic good taste of art to help advance our games and scale it to the high level of market standards.   Especially, for a candidate with an innovative startup mindset who is willing to be part of the core team to scale our company and grow with us as well.  

 

Responsibilities:  

 

Vision and Concept Development: create and refine game concepts and vision. This involves understanding business needs, brainstorming ideas, determining game’s genre, and determining unique selling points.   

 

Technical Proficiency:  

  • show a high level of expertise in using different features of Unity engine to build attractive level designs. In addition, developing feature design, physics, animation, scripting and addressing all technical challenges arise to the team ensuring smooth game design flow.   
  •  Proven experience developing games using Unity, with a strong portfolio to showcase your work (6+ years). 
  • Utilize Shader Graph and URP pipeline to create visually stunning and optimized shaders and materials along with unity's VFX Graph to design and implement captivating visual effects. 
  • Experience in Unity Localization features to support multi-language support and Unity Addressables to optimize asset management. 
  • Experience in Unity key features Scriptable Objects, Nested prefabs, AssetBundles, Sprite Atlases, Animations, Particles, TextMeshPro to create reusable and modular game components. 
  • Extensive expertise in AI integration within Unity, including creating procedurally content generation, intelligent NPC behaviors, enemy AI, and interactive game elements. 
  • Solid understanding of multiplayer game design principles and experience in implementing multiplayer gameplay mechanics using Unity's networking capabilities, Photon or similar technology. 
  • Strong knowledge of Git. 
     

Collaboration and communication: Translate the design documents to a clear feature development task to be ready for the programming team.  Follow up and provides feedback to ensure alignment of all related teams with target design and game scope.   

 

Management skills: Overseeing the project time lines, organizing milestones and tasks in tools used by the company, tracking progress, delegating tasks, recognize challenges, solve problems and facilitate on schedule smooth operation-plan, preserving resources and budget.    

 

Quality Control: Ensures games meet quality, standards, and customer needs. Overseeing testing phases, gathering feedback, and making necessary adjustments to improve game play, performance, and optimum user experience.    

Player Experience and Engagement: focus on creating an engaging and enjoyable player experience suitable for school age children. Able to research player psychology and preference and incorporating elements that enhance gameplay and retention.   

 

Innovation and market awareness: Staying informed about current trends and advances in technology, especially AI technology. Innovate ideas and help in setting company strategy aligned with market needs and updated technology in game design. 

Job Requirements

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in game design, computer science, interactive media, or a related field is often preferred.
  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing your game design projects, including game prototypes, design documents, level designs, and any other relevant work samples, is crucial. Your portfolio should demonstrate your creativity, problem-solving skills, and ability to work with different game engines and tools.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in game development tools and software, such as Unity is essential.
  • Design Skills: Strong design skills, including game mechanics, level design, systems design, and user interface design, are important for a game designer. You should be able to create engaging and balanced gameplay experiences that appeal to the target audience.
  • Creativity:  generating innovative ideas and concepts for games. Your ability to think outside the box and come up with unique game mechanics and narratives will set you apart.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Being able to identify issues, brainstorm solutions, and iterate on designs to achieve the desired outcome.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication is key in game development, as you'll need to collaborate with artists, programmers, producers, and other team members. Being able to clearly articulate your ideas, provide constructive feedback, and work well in a team environment is crucial.
  • Passion for Games: having a deep understanding of different genres, platforms, and trends in the industry. Your enthusiasm for games should shine through in your work and interactions.
  • Adaptability: The game development industry is constantly evolving, so being adaptable and willing to learn new technologies and techniques is important. Employers value candidates who can quickly adapt to changing project requirements and industry trends.
