Job Description

SUMMARY

The primary role of the Finance Assistant is to review and verify payment documents to ensure compliance with relevant policies and procedures as well as contractual terms.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the direct supervisor.

  1. Analyze financial data as required.
  2. Review and calculate overtime compensations per relevant policies and procedures.
  3. Review/verify petty cash disbursements of Cairo and field offices.
  4. Review and process transactions’ paperwork for payment and reflect in relevant register.
  5. Ensure social insurance liabilities are settled in due course.
  6. Maintain a tracker for temporary & casual personnel including payments, level of efforts, and validity of contracts.
  7. Maintain the general ledger with supporting documents.
  8. Prepare calculation sheets for travel reimbursements.
  9. Maintain a tracker for advance payments.
  10. Ensure payees have submitted required documents prior to effecting payments.
  11. Initiate procedures for opening bank accounts for employees as required.
  12. Enter financial data in the financial system.
  13. Maintain manual & electronic filing systems of financial records.
  14. Maintain a filing system for finance-related correspondence.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years' work experience as a Finance Assistant, Finance Officer or similar role preferably with an international company/organization operating in
  • Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (creating spreadsheets and using financial functions)
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks)
  • Organizational and time-management skills
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to spot numerical errors.
  • BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics
  • Familiarity with Egyptian laws and regulations pertaining to income and withholding taxes, and social insurance.
  • Must have strong financial analytical skills.
