Job Description
- We are looking for a detail-oriented Data Governance and Master Data Management (MDM) Specialist to join our Business Intelligence team. In this role, you will be the "guardian" of our data quality. You will be responsible for ensuring that our master data—such as project codes, vendor lists, and materials—is accurate, consistent, and standardized across all company systems.
Your work will ensure that our BI reports are based on "one version of the truth," preventing errors in reporting and helping the construction firm make decisions based on reliable information. You will spend your time defining data rules, cleaning existing databases, and monitoring how data is entered into our systems. - Master Data Oversight: Maintain and clean master data records for projects, employees, and assets.
- Standardization: Create and enforce naming conventions and data entry rules across all departments.
- Data Quality Audits: Regularly check for duplicate or incorrect records and lead the "cleaning" process.
- BI Collaboration: Work closely with the BI team to ensure data flows correctly into dashboards and reports.
- Process Improvement: Identify where "bad data" is coming from and fix the workflow at the source.
Job Requirements
- Proven Experience: 3-5+ years of experience specifically in Data Governance or Master Data Management.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in SQL and Excel; experience with MDM tools or ERP data structures is a plus.
- Industry Context: Experience handling large datasets in construction, engineering, or manufacturing is preferred.
- Analytical Mindset: Exceptional attention to detail—you are the type of person who notices a typo in a database of thousands.
- Communication: Ability to explain the importance of data standards to non-technical staff across different departments.
