Job Summary
The Partnership Food Category Manager is a key leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the sourcing and procurement strategy for all food-related categories on our B2B platform. You will be at the heart of building a world-class, cost-effective, and high-quality food supply base to serve small retailers, cafes, and partners across Egypt. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, a strong negotiator, and a data-driven professional with deep knowledge of the Egyptian FMCG food landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement the procurement strategy for food categories (dry goods, snacks, beverages, canned goods, etc.).
Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities, monitor price trends, and ensure competitiveness.
Build and manage a robust supplier network, from top manufacturers to local producers.
Lead supplier lifecycle management (evaluation, onboarding, performance, and relationship building).
Negotiate contracts to secure the best terms on cost, quality, and delivery.
Drive cost-saving initiatives and ensure procurement efficiency.
Collaborate with finance, logistics, and inventory teams to ensure smooth supply chain operations and accurate forecasting.
Use data to optimize assortment, pricing, and promotions.
Champion the adoption of technology to streamline procurement processes.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, and category management within the FMCG sector in Egypt.
- Proven experience specifically in food and beverage procurement is essential.
- Demonstrable track record of successful negotiations with major food manufacturers and distributors in Egypt.
- Ability to lead complex negotiations and build consensus.
- Proficient in analyzing data to derive insights and make informed decisions. Advanced proficiency in MS Excel is a must.
- Deep understanding of the Egyptian FMCG landscape, including key players, distribution channels, and pricing dynamics.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong, strategic supplier partnerships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Arabic and English. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Proactive in identifying and resolving complex supply chain issues.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), or similar certification.
- Experience working with e-procurement platforms, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
- Thrives in a fast-paced, agile, and results-oriented startup environment.
- An existing strong network of contacts within the food manufacturing & distribution industry.
