Job Description

  • Prepare weekly lesson plans on time as required by school policy.
  • Design teaching materials to sustain students' interest in the subject.
  • Design and implement clear instruction methodology.
  • Set culture standards for learning.
  • Monitor students' progress in the subject.
  • Monitor overall academic development.
  • Design student assessment systems and practices.
  • Prepare and arrange teaching and learning materials.
  • Prepare training aids along with projects related to subject matter taught.
  • Present relevant enrichment to classroom teaching using personal experience.
  • Ensure to motivate students to demonstrate enthusiasm, professionalism and sensitivity for their concerns.
  • Ensure every educational activity is performed in an ethical manner.
  • Plan and provide suitable learning experiences for students.
  • Monitor and analyze student results.
  • Ensure to maintain and enhance professional competence in  his/her subject.
  • Develop, select and modify instructional plans along with materials to attain needs of every student.
  • Use demonstrations and props to teach subjects.
  • Lesson plans include classroom work, such as class instruction, tests and quizzes.
  • Assign reasonable homework to students to reinforce the lessons learned in the classroom.
  • Schedule field trips for students during the year to provide learning experiences outside of the classroom.
  • Motivate and inspire young children to develop a lifelong love of learning and education.
  • Teachers may work with children in small groups or with individual students who may be struggling with the classroom material and also instruct students to work collaboratively with other children.
  • Demonstrates accurate and up-to-date knowledge of content.
  • Implements designated curriculum.
  • Assumes a role in meeting the school’s student achievement goals, including academic gains of students assigned to the teacher

Assessments, Evaluation and Grades:

  • Evaluate the students' comprehension and knowledge of the material.
  • Use assessments of homework assignments, quizzes and tests to determine a student’s progress in the class.
  • Observe behavior when assessing a student’s progress in school.
  • Observations may help identify learning or behavioral problems.
  • Evaluations and assessments can also identify exceptional students.
  • Teachers keep records of grades and attendance for each student in the classroom.
  • Maintains confidentiality of students and students’ records.
  • Update the students’ grades on weekly basis.
  • Follow up with the students missing work and update their grade book on time.

Communication

  • Demonstrates communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, parents, other teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.
  • Works cooperatively with school administrators, special support personnel, colleagues, and parents
  • Participate in all meetings and perform actively on staff committees.
  • Provide environment encouraging to physical, social, intellectual and emotional development of all students.
  • Use the school e-mail to send and receive mails from and to students, parents, teaching staff and administrators.
  • Is available to students and parents according to school policies by such means as holding conferences, telephoning, and sending written communications.

Discipline and Classroom Management:

  • Facilitate classroom procedures.
  • Coach discipline in students.
  • Enforce classroom discipline.
  • Supervise students in different school-related settings.
  • Lead the classroom and set the rules for behavior among students.
  • Supervise the behavior of children outside of the classroom setting, such as snack, lunch, and prayer times or in field trips.
  • Responsible for establishing a productive environment for learning for all children in the classroom.
  • Discipline disruptive students and praise those who perform well in the classroom.

Parent/Teacher Conferences:

  • Meet with parents to discuss a student’s progress in the classroom.
  • Offer suggestions and recommendations for parents to help in improving the student’s learning.
  • Take notes, suggestions, recommendations and even complaints from parents to work on for the student’s improvement and progress.

Attending Conferences and Workshops:

  • Teachers should attend workshops, seminars and conferences throughout the year to stay up to date on issues related to teaching and accordingly learn new techniques.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities and applies the concepts to classroom and school activities.

 Other Duties:

  • Participate effectively in all school events, extracurricular activities and field trips.
  • Assumes responsibility for supervising students in out-of-class settings.
  • Other duties and responsibilities prescribed by the school such as, but not limited to: break supervision, substitution, field trips, school events and other advisory duties
