Job Description

Merchandise and Purchase Planning 

  • Responsible for planning, selecting, and purchasing of products that are sold in retail stores. Source new and review existing products to ensure that in store products remain competitive.
  • Develop and implement a purchasing strategy and detailed annual purchasing budget which would include desired quantities, timing of deliveries, gross profit, stock turn, and recommended liquidation strategies and delivery schedules to help maintain stock levels.
  • Identify customer preferences and forecast consumer trends, levels of demand for products in cooperation with the sales and the product development teams. 
  • Support the product development team in the development of mood boards, product collections and design.
  • Stay current on all issues dealing with market trends, competitor prices, product availability and/or transportation problems that could affect deliveries and monitor market changes.
  • Stay updated on technical matters related to the products sold by the company. 

Sourcing and Supplier Management

  • Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers and vendors. 
  • Conduct research to define the best products and suppliers in terms of value, delivery schedules and quality.
  • Seek new suppliers and outsourced production opportunities and conduct supplier, workshop, and factory visits.
  • Visit supplier fairs and trade exhibitions.
  • Gather product samples for internal approval and manage the production of prototypes.
  • Gather market information on supplier inventory pipeline and opportunities.
  • Maintain updated supplier database.
  • Negotiate and agree supply agreements, monitoring the quality of products provided.

Purchasing and Inbound Logistics

  • Prepare detailed purchase orders.
  • Confirm final purchase orders and communicate with suppliers, warehousing, logistics and accounting teams to facilitate the receiving, processing, and payments of ordered products.
  • Determine and communicate all action items relating to product adjustment, bundling, physical and digital tagging, photography, costing, pricing, coding, and distribution for all ordered items.
  • Track and report related KPI’s to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Assign routine buying responsibility and ensure that it is conducted.
  • Recommend, establish, and periodically update company purchasing procedures.
  • Assist accounts payable with invoice discrepancies and ensure suppliers' invoices are processed for payment in a timely manner.

Inventory Management, Warehousing and Outbound Logistics

  • Ensure that all inventory purchase, production, sales, and transfer orders are executed in a timely and consistent manner and that inventory levels are accurate. 
  • Execute periodic physical inventory counts, audits and identify opportunities to enhance accuracy and reduce inventory losses. 
  • Analyze the velocity of sales of products, determine reorder points and manage inventory replenishment processes to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Monitor and replenish store materials, tools and assets relating to visual merchandising, and services such as wrapping, custom orders, product sales and delivery.
  • Implement systems for the management of the warehouse, including old products inventory.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Strong knowledge of retail operations, merchandising, inventory management and logistics.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent negotiating and networking skills.
  • Hard working, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Efficient and has good time management skills.
  • Excellent mentoring, coaching and people management skills
  • A proven ability to plan, organize, control, and administer.
  • Familiarity with Supply Chain Management (SCM) software, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, and/or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) software. 
  • A high standard of personal and business ethics.
  • Own a car and a valid driver’s license.
