Job Description
- Supervise library assistants and other staff
- Help students to find books-search the library catalogue; locate the title on the shelves. If we have nothing on the subject requested, maybe suggest books on closely related topics.
- Maintain circulation records-issuing, returning and reserving books for students
- Shelve returned and/or books that have been used in the library to the correct place on the shelves
- Help with collecting, preparing, and adding new material to the catalogue
- Help with the repair of damaged books
- Help patrons research reading materials and references
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with academic staff and students, as well as external bodies such as suppliers
- Maintain library records-keep class lists updated
- Supervise students using the library and common room
- Be prepared to help with storytelling to young students.
- Be prepared to help with the preparation of wall displays
- Answer routine enquiries
- Any other duties as required
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science; a Master’s in Library Science or Information Management is a plus.
- A minimum of 5 years experience working in library.
- Excellent IT skills and knowledge of library databases.
- Outstanding organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask.
- A patient and friendly personality.
