Job Description

  • We are looking for a candidate coming from the field of sales engineer, with an exclusive experience in the computer hardware and software industries. 
  • The candidate needs to be an expert in the document related technology, and able to design tech-driven solutions for customers; help sell their solutions to the customers; implement the solutions and then usually provide or oversee support, once the technology is up and running.
  • This could include anything from computer network installations to customized software development.
  • Depending on the company and on the specific role of the Business Technical Manager engineer and as per the company needs at this specific time, the candidate will support pre-sales, post-sales support, or a combination of both. Given that at a certain point he/she will lead the team of the implementation and the post-sales technical team. 
  • This includes going on discovery calls with a sales rep to meet prospective clients; generating solutions based on the prospect's needs; and presenting the solution to the prospect. Once the sales is closed, it is likely that you will oversee or assist with delivering the solution to the client and then supporting the client throughout the service period - over the phone, via computer or at the client's premises. Often, traveling across the country or anywhere in the world is a requirement for these positions. Working long hours and on weekends is also a requirement much of the time.
  • The key to being a successful Business Technical Manager is to understand thoroughly the technology you are working with - including its design and implementation - as well as being able to explain the technology to lay people. 
  • The successful candidate will be able to build rapport with clients, from C-level executives and managers to the support staff, all of whom will often need to buy-in to your recommendations before these recommendations can be implemented.

Responsibilities

  • Managing Technical Staff by recruiting and training employees, communicating job expectations, and monitoring performance.
  • Monitoring daily operations, including pre-sales team’ tasks, post-sales support team tasks
  • Assigned to work within a defined sales territory, the candidate has to
    • Respond to customer requests for proposals
    • Develop designs and bills of materials for cost-effective solutions
    • Provide shoulder-to-shoulder knowledge transfer or training to implementation teams bringing the technology solutions online.
  • Understand and being well-versed in selling the company's portfolio of products and services and keep up with new technologies entering the market.
  • Analyze the structure of the customer’ business, how it uses technology and what its goals are
  • Identify problems within a business, including using data modeling techniques
  • Communicate with senior people in organizations to find out what they hope to achieve
  • Formulate ways for businesses to improve, based on previous research
  • Persuade internal and external stakeholders of the benefits of new technology or strategies
  • Oversee the implementation of new technology and systems
  • Run workshops and training sessions
  • Coordinating technology installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Generating performance reports for all the cases falling under his/her responsibilities.
  • Assuring all IT activities are performed within the parameters of applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Remaining up to date with advances in technology and industry best practices.

Job Requirements

  • Candidate should be organized and display excellent time management and organizational skills. Because this is a customer-facing role, the candidate must also be an effective communicator from both verbal and written standpoints, as well as through active listening.
  • Strong presentation skills are a must. 
  • The candidate must be able to adjust presentation materials as needed to provide the type and depth of information required for each recipient.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering, computer science or numeracy -related subject.
  • A professional qualification with either the International Institute of Business Analysis or the Chartered Institute for IT is an asset
  • Dealing with ECM(s) and Document Related Technologies is an asset
  • 8-15 years experience in a related field
