Job Description

  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of Microsoft SQL Server instances across development, testing, and production environments. Ensure adherence to best practices and standards for optimal performance and reliability.
  • Design, implement, and manage high availability solutions such as Always-on Availability Groups and database mirroring to ensure continuous access to critical data and minimize downtime in case of failures or disasters.
  • Implement robust database security measures, including role-based security and encryption, to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Regularly review and update security policies to address emerging threats.
  • Establish and maintain comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity and minimize potential data loss. Conduct regular backup tests and drills to validate the effectiveness of recovery procedures.
  • Monitor database performance metrics and proactively identify areas for optimization. Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and server configurations to enhance overall system performance and responsiveness.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, connectivity problems, and data corruption. Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with application developers to design and implement database schemas, stored procedures, and triggers that align with application requirements. Provide guidance on database design best practices and performance optimization techniques.
  • Develop and maintain automated scripts and tools for the setup and configuration of SQL Server instances and environments. Streamline deployment processes and reduce manual intervention to improve efficiency and consistency

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; relevant certifications preferred.
  • From 2 - 4  years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator in a production environment, with a focus on high availability solutions and automated setup.
  • Proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server instances (SQL Server 2016 and above). Strong knowledge of SQL Server high availability solutions, automated deployment tools, and scripting languages.
  • Experience implementing database security measures and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in designing and implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Strong skills in database performance monitoring and optimization, including SQL query tuning and server configuration.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues in a timely manner.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
