Job Summary:
The Low-Frequency Electromagnetics Application Engineer will be responsible for helping customers solve complex engineering problems using ANSYS low-frequency products such as Ansys Maxwell. The position involves working closely with customers and internal teams in a consultative and supportive technical role. The ability to research problems and find solutions to wide variety of problems is paramount.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.
- Work closely with potential and current customers to scope technical solutions that meet and optimize their operational needs
- Collaborate with account managers to identify, advance, and technically drive new opportunities and sustained account support
- Provide, track, and document technical support for existing customer accounts on Ansys low-frequency products.
- Develop, organize, and deliver introductory technical training courses on the use of ANSYS electromagnetic simulation products.
- Help sales team on pre-sales activities by creating proof of concepts (POCs) simulation, making presentations to customers, and showing value proposition to the prospects,
- Simulation experience in Advanced technology areas such as Electric Motors, Transformers, Actuators, Electromechanical components, and systems and collaborate with customers to have a footprint of Ansys in the customer design process.
- Maintain a general understanding of the breadth of technology provided by all ANSYS product offerings and technical solutions in the low-frequency electromagnetic applications
- Sustain technical proficiency through ANSYS certifications and continual pursuit of personal, technical, and professional growth
- Participate in and support internal marketing initiatives that drive customer engagement, and education, and grow technical capacity
Job Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills: (Required)
- Requires a bachelor's or Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Requires a Minimum of 2 years of experience using ANSYS Maxwell and previous experience in the Automotive or Industrial Power industries
- Requires a thorough understanding of Low-Frequency Electromagnetic devices, electrical system design, and simulation
- Requires experience in Electric Machines (Motors and Drives) and Power Electronics applications
- Sound understanding of physical principles of the electromagnetics and understanding of the static, frequency domain and time domain analyses
- Knowledge in 3D CAD design tools
- Requires the ability to work effectively in both independent and diverse team environments
- Requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to develop practical engineering solutions to difficult problems
- Requires exceptional customer service aptitude, as well as communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel is required
Education/Experience/Skills: (Preferred)
- Familiarity with Actuators/Solenoids, Magnetic Sensors/Transformers, and/or Wireless Power Transfer Devices is a plus
- Familiarity with other ANSYS products such as Q3D, MotorCAD, Circuit Simulator and Simplorer/Twin Builder
- Familiarity with common programming languages (C, C++, Python, etc.) is a plus
