Cost Accountant

Job Purpose

The Cost Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate cost accounting records, analyzing production and material costs, and ensuring financial control across Intertrade’s operations. The role focuses on identifying cost variances, improving cost efficiency, and supporting management with reliable cost data to enhance profitability and decision-making.

This position serves as the key link between Finance, Production, Purchasing, and Operations to ensure proper cost tracking, reporting, and performance analysis within the factory.

Key Responsibilities

• Record, monitor, and analyze all production costs (raw materials, labor, overhead).
• Prepare and maintain product cost sheets for all PVC, magnet, and compound lines.
• Review and verify material consumption reports and compare them with production outputs.
• Calculate and analyze standard vs. actual cost variances, investigating significant differences.
• Monitor scrap, rework, and efficiency rates and report their financial impact.
• Ensure proper cost allocation across departments and cost centers.
• Assist in setting accurate product pricing and profit margin calculations.
• Reconcile raw material, WIP, and finished goods inventory values between finance and production records.
• Monitor material movement and consumption through the ERP system (Odoo).
• Support periodic stock counts and investigate discrepancies between physical and book inventory.
• Prepare monthly cost reports highlighting production efficiency and cost trends.
• Provide management with data-driven insights for decision-making and process improvements.
• Support Finance in calculating production-related KPIs (cost per unit, cost variance, etc.).
• Collaborate with Production and Operations to identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Ensure all cost transactions are accurately recorded and traceable in the ERP system.
• Participate in improving cost accounting workflows and internal controls.
• Maintain confidentiality, accuracy, and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
