Key Deliverables
An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our development department as a hands-on Development Team Leader, leading a team of highly skilled developers and delivering complex SAAS platform project across a variety of technologies and features exist and willing to have hundreds more.
As an experienced Development Team Leader, you will lead development technicalities and will be a part of technology process handlers. Managing the successful delivery of this platform will require you to plan, coordinate and lead activities across the full delivery lifecycle. This will include working closely with the department’s Scrum Masters, Product Managers, Product Owners & technical teams heads, architects, and developers. You will ensure the structured and coordinated planning of your team’s development. Your technical background and experience will ensure you can offer the support and guidance required being able to support and assist developers at code level.
To apply for this role, in addition to having a proven management background you must also have proven technical capability and a track record in software development combined with experience in the leadership of software development teams and delivery of projects within a software development environment. You will be joining a large team of diverse skills and experience and the job requires a motivated individual who is experienced in taking responsibility and can independently deliver results on both departmental and business projects.
Job Responsibilities:
- Line management and personal development of a team of highly skilled developers
- Managing the delivery of our platform from design through to release.
- Capable of understanding and contributing to the technical solution from design through to code level
- Working closely with Development Project Managers, Product Owners & Technical teams heads to produce accurate delivery estimates and manage the transition from analysis through to design and delivery
- Provide regular and effective progress updates to and work closely with Development Project Managers to ensure the management of any delivery risks or issues
- Define delivery phases of the project including activities, sub-activities, and milestones ensuring these are documented and used as the basis for the project event log, issues and risk log and any subsequent reporting
- Ensure awareness, involvement and support from the key stakeholders and participants by building strong project teams and maintaining robust communication on the project status throughout its life cycle
- Participate in reviews and meetings and provide updates on project progress
- Take responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely and drive all stakeholders to deliver on time and to the required quality standards
- Contributing to post implementation reviews helping to demonstrate success or otherwise of projects
- Ownership, development and management of allocated departmental processes
- Work on a project involving the implementation of new and existing features, solutions and processes
Job Requirements
- Development experience at least 8 years of experience
- Prior experience in a technical leadership position for at least 1 year
- Possess knowledge about every technology including PHP, Android java, iOS swift code, and frontend technologies
- Preferred to have knowledge in Symfony
- Experience with agile development methodologies including Kanban and Scrum
- Strong communication skills with both internal team members and external business stakeholders
- Organizational and time-management skills
- In-depth knowledge and experience with developing web applications with a service-oriented framework, Microservices and Rest APIs
- Experience with source control management systems and continuous integration/deployment environments
- Experience with debugging, performance profiling, and optimization
- Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented and service-oriented application development techniques and theories
- Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment
- Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems, and processes
- Decision-making skills
- College or University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
- Exempted or completed the military service
