Job Description
Purpose: Responsible for providing strategic leadership and overall direction for the library services and resources of ESLSCA University; by ensuring that the university library system supports the teaching, learning, and research needs of the university community and by maintaining the development and effective management of library collections, services, and staff.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Develops and ensures the achieving a clear vision and strategic objectives for the library system that supports the university's academic and research goals.
- Manages the library's budget and resources, to ensure the efficient and effective use and allocation of available resources.
- Develops and maintains library policies, procedures, and practices that are aligned with best practices ensuring high-quality delivery of library services.
- Maintains collections to ensure that they meet the research, learning and teaching needs of the university community.
- Oversees the development and delivery of information literacy programs, including instructional design, delivery, and assessment.
- Fosters strong relationships with faculty and academic departments to ensure that library services and resources are aligned with the needs of the university community.
- Works collaboratively with other departments within the university, including IT, to ensure that library technology is integrated with other university systems.
- Collaborates with other universities and library consortia to share resources, reduce costs, and expand access to library materials.
- Performs any other tasks as requested by Director, Information Management
Job Requirements
Requirements:
Minimum education requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science or a any related field.
- Post Graduate Degrees or Certifications in Library Science & Management is Preferred
Experience:
- Five to Seven years of experience in library management, including experience in academic libraries.
- Experience in Educational Institutes is a MUST.
Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to hire, train, and supervise staff.
- Knowledge of emerging library technologies and their impact on library services.
- Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in library services and collections.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build strong relationships with faculty, staff, and students.
- Excellent level of English Language.
- Knowledge of Library Management systems and Learning Management systems
