Job Description
Senior Material Planner & Production Scheduler (Senior Garment Production Planning Engineer)
We are looking for a Senior Material Planner & Production Scheduler to lead material and production planning for our garment orders and make sure they ship on time, at the right quality and cost. You will own the BOM and material requirements for each order, decide how production is allocated across our lines and subcontractors, manage relationships with suppliers, print houses, and embroidery houses, and oversee garment merchandising follow-up from order confirmation to shipment. You will be accountable for a smooth production cycle with no material-related stoppages, and you will guide and develop junior planners and merchandisers.
Responsibilities:
Own the planning process from order confirmation to shipment, and be accountable for on-time delivery across all orders.
Review and approve BOMs for each style and order, covering fabrics, trims, accessories, and packing materials, based on buyer tech packs and approved samples.
Review consumption sheets and required material quantities (including wastage and allowances), and approve purchasing plans that match order quantities and delivery dates.
Make sure all required materials are available, inspected, and delivered to the cutting, printing, embroidery, and sewing stages on time to guarantee a smooth production cycle.
Decide the allocation of orders to in-house lines and subcontractors based on capacity, delivery dates, style complexity, cost, and material availability.
Build and manage master production schedules and Time & Action (T&A) calendars, and anticipate bottlenecks before they affect delivery.
Manage and negotiate with fabric, trims, and accessories suppliers on lead times, pricing, and delivery terms, and resolve delays or shortages.
Manage subcontractors, print houses, and embroidery houses: evaluate their performance, follow up on progress, quality, and delivery, and escalate issues early.
Oversee merchandising follow-up: sample approvals, lab dips, fit and size-set samples, and PP samples, and act as a key contact for buyers on order status and approvals.
Coordinate with Cutting, Sewing, Finishing, Quality, Shipping, and Management so materials and approvals are ready when each stage starts.
Lead rescheduling decisions for late materials, buyer changes, urgent orders, or capacity issues, and keep all stakeholders informed.
Control inventory of fabric, trims, and accessories, and reduce shortages, excess, and leftover stock.
Report to management on KPIs such as on-time delivery, schedule adherence, material availability, and subcontractor performance, and recommend improvements.
Mentor and train junior planners and merchandisers, and improve planning procedures and tools.
