Job Description
Job Title : Newly Qualified Teacher of English (Teacher Support Programme)
Main Accountabilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver up to 20 hours of high-quality English Teaching in the first year.
- During the second year of the contract after graduation from TSP, teaching hours will be 25 hours per week of high-quality English language teaching that meets the needs of different customer groups taking into account individual learning styles.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to help manage students’ performance throughout the course, and actively promote learner autonomy
- Contribute to the development, evaluation, and improvement of English language courses, materials and related services, in order to meet students’ needs by actively working as a member of the teaching team
- Complete teaching related administrative tasks to specified standards.
- Actively engage in professional development and performance management to ensure quality and high standards in teaching and learning and maintain British Council’s position at the forefront of best ELT practices.
- In the initial year of the contract, Teachers on the TSP undertake:
Training Programme
- Attendance at training sessions and INSETTS as scheduled (up to 2 per week)
- 2 observations by the training / management team / mentor per term
- 3 peer observations by teacher on the TSP per term
Meetings
- Attendance of pre- and post- observation meetings with member of training / management team / mentor
- Attendance at Training Days and Teachers’ Meetings unless scheduled to teach a British Council courses at that time

- First degree
- Cambridge CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL.
