ABOUT THE AL QASIMI FOUNDATIONThe Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi Foundation for Policy Research was established in 2009 to support the social, cultural, and economic development of Ras Al Khaimah and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Al Qasimi Foundation seeks to support the public and private sectors by helping them ground policy decisions and programming evidence-based research that reflects the best thinking in the world as well as the local Ras Al Khaimah and UAE contexts. Our work over the past 10 years has focused on generating world-class research, developing local capacity, and engaging the local community. While we continue to have a strong focus on improving education, we have also expanded our priority areas to include health, community development, arts, and culture and we have extended our reach to target groups that are particularly disadvantaged such as those in the prison, low-income students and their families and those the remote areas of Ras Al Khaimah. POSITION OVERVIEW & SCOPEThe Research Associate is responsible for conducting, supporting, and promoting high quality research focused on supporting the economic and social development of Ras al Khaimah, with a particular focus on education. Examples of preferred research areas should include at least one or more of the following: Philanthropy and Nonstate Actors, Educational Policy. The Research Associate reports to the Director of Strategy, Research, and Impact and is part of the Research Department. This position works closely with all departments to support, plan, conduct, publish and disseminate internal research and programs. It also works collaboratively with external partners both locally and overseas on multiple research initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIESPlan, conduct, and publish internal AQF research (30%)Disseminate research results for internal and external audiences through publications and presentations (30%)Support research programs, as needed (15%)Maintain and improve external partnerships (10%)Support interns, visiting scholars, and other individuals connected to AQF (15%) SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSMaster’s degree required - ideally in international and comparative education, economics, or a related field, research in the area of Philanthropy and Nonstate Actors in Education.International experience preferred – study abroad or similar experience is an asset.4+ relevant work experience strongly preferred – ideally in an international development setting.Advanced research and analytical skills.English language skills; native English speaker or equivalent proficiency Advanced professional writing and editing skills.Intermediate statistical software, documentation and information management, communication and relationship management skills.COMPENSATIONThis position offers a generous remuneration package that includes health insurance, training and development opportunities, 22 working days of annual leave, and an annual (economy class) plane ticket to the employee’s country of origin.
