Job Description
Role Purpose:
To perform diagnostic radiographic services involved in a variety of technical procedure including CT, MRI, DEXA, as well as the plain X-ray, OR and Recovery. To assist in radiology interventional procedures.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Technical Duties:
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of Aspetar mission, vision and values.
- Assume responsibility for patient care and safety to prevent unwanted accident.
- To perform all radiographic procedures assign for diagnostic purposes including the special procedures such as CT and MRI.
- Adjust imaging equipment, correct setting for each examination to give quality examination.
- Assist radiologist for special procedure.
- To apply radiation protection techniques and accessories (collimation, lead apron, etc.) to avoid radiation exposure of the part not being studies.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of all clinical rooms after use.
- To respond during emergency as needed.
- Practice sterile techniques to prevent contamination.
- Comply with Aspetar policies and procedure and in particular infection control, safety and quality management.
- Accomplish other duties as requested.
- Perform MRI, CT, DEXA, general x-ray examinations, OR and recovery as required
- Work with Medical Imaging Director and Chief Radiologist to ensure provision of a quality imaging service
- Provide after hour and on call services as directed by the Director of Medical Imaging.
Administration:
- Record procedure into patient computer information system.
Compliance:
- Perform quality control measures to ensure optimal quality images.
- Practice safety measures in radiography.
- Practice safety measures in MRI.
- Apply the professions code of ethics in all aspects of practice.
- Work professionally with other technician during procedures.
- Contributes toward educational programs and events in Aspetar. Attends clinical meetings as considered appropriate by the Medical Imaging Director.
- Participates as required in the provision of an On-Call/ out of hours Radiology service. This includes involvement in the Radiology Service Roster during Eid vacations.
- Participate in different accreditation activities (like Accreditation Canada) and quality improvement as necessary and required.
Supervision:
- Participate in research and clinical projects.
- Provide instruction to new employees.
- Educate hospital staff across departments on safety procedures (i.e. procedures for working with magnets).
- Supervise and instruct radiography students or others on Aspetar observerships
- Assume any other responsibilities as directed by the direct supervisor.
Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job
- 5-7 years of radiology experience of which a minimum of 2 -3 years should be in a similar position / responsibility.
Skills and Abilities:

Education and Certification requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiology with 5 years’ experience
- Certificate in Radiology.
- Eligible for registration with appropriate licensing authority.
Skills:
- Meticulous and pays attention to detail.
- Knowledge of scanning equipment.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
