Biomedical Engineering Service Manager

Duties And Responsibilities Supervise and manage the personnel assigned in the Biomedical Engineering Section and ensure that performance is in alignment with expected results and DSFHC policies and procedures. Set and implement goals and objectives to achieve in order to achieve maximum reliability of operation of equipment and to achieve reduced failures or breakdowns in equipment. Set, establish and implement procedures to monitor work of personnel, equipment operation and other statistics required to ensure increased operation and safety of equipment in line with industry standards and norms. Take corrective actions in the event of poor work performance and other employee related issues that may impact job performance which directly affects the quality of work. Establish and maintain procedures for the technology management and equipment planning support and medical equipment maintenance for medical equipment and radiographic equipment and devices. Life cycle planning will be an essential aspect of the management of equipment. Prepare equipment specifications, scopes of work and RFP proposals and perform technology pre-purchase evaluations as well as participate in purchase negotiations and technical review of quotations, tenders or other bid submissions. To communicate, promote and ensure compliance in regards to regulatory compliance issues. Participate in service contract negotiations and perform supervision of service contracts and ensure contractor compliance to the terms of contracts and scopes of work. Management of the medical equipment inventory and preparation of periodic reports pertaining to the inventory. Based on life cycle, year of purchase, and condition of equipment, will plan for replacement of equipment in an economical, efficient and cost effective manner. Will review and prepare procurement orders for equipment, tools, personal protective equipment, parts, consumables, etc. for the performance of work within the section. Will supervise and manage equipment installations and will liaise with end-user departments in regards to the equipment installations. Will coordinate utility services and physical plant modifications or changes with the appropriate sections within the Facility Management and Safety Department. Will review and identify the training needs of personnel within the section and will develop training programs to enable them to be trained. Will identify special training needs for specialized equipment and will recommend a course of action which is most appropriate. Will prepare various reports periodically in relation to the management and maintenance of medical equipment and other activities or issues and submit to the Facility Management and Safety Director. Will ensure that safety and infection control procedures are implemented in the work activities and that safety legislation requirements are adhered to. Will conduct regular meetings with Biomedical personnel on a periodic basis and document meeting with minutes and provide copies to Biomedical Service Director. Will participate on committees or ad hoc meetings as required or assigned. Will monitor safety alerts on medical equipment and devices from the manufacturer, regulatory agencies, etc., and take appropriate action in regards to these alerts and alert the end user departments and the Biomedical Service Director JOB REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS : Education: Bachelor of Engineering with Electronics Major in Biomedical Engineering Experience: Minimum 8 years’ full time experience as a Biomedical Engineering Supervisor or Manager Language: Fluency in written and spoken English and desirable also in Arabic Required Licenses: Licensed to practice Engineering in Saudi Arabia or home country if expatriate
