Principals are part of our Senior Leadership Group and will work directly with one (or more) of our senior Partners to prospect and generate new business, manage key Member relationships, and drive the culture of the company.We are looking for a curious, opinionated, strategic and proactive individual who has their finger on the pulse of the trends and technologies that are disrupting industries and the status quo; someone that is passionate about building authentic and lasting relationships, connecting the dots between startups and corporates; and someone who can leverage the significant flexibility, autonomy, and responsibility of a startup environment to drive understanding and get things done.Ideal candidates for this role feel equally comfortable speaking with early-stage startups, venture capitalists, and corporate C-Suite executives alike, oftentimes from one meeting to the next.Even if you do not meet all the requirements listed below, we still encourage you to apply for this position. You have new business development experience and are excited at the prospect of leveraging your network and the relationships of our firm to surface and land new Members. You are able to form thoughtful and considered perspectives on a breadth and depth of topics, supported by both objective evidence and strategic conviction. You have strong communication and organization skills and experience interacting with and managing senior stakeholders. You want to work in a fast-paced environment across industries and manage multiple live projects at any given point in time. You want to work at a startup! And with that, you’re adaptable and eager to learn new skills while wearing multiple hats. You are curious and see incredible value in having exposure to a variety of senior-level stakeholders, experts, and thought leaders — corporations, startups, VCs — across the venture and corporate innovation ecosystems. You are empathetic, self-aware, and able to build strong relationships based on trust with both internal and external stakeholders. What You’ll DoMember servicing: Lead regular discussions with Member executives to scope new projects, identify impact areas, highlight proactively sourced opportunities, and ensure continued alignment. Act as the day-to-day interface with key stakeholders at Member organizations; maintain ongoing dialogue and deep understanding of their core interests and end goals and set an account strategy that aligns with the Member's priorities and where we can have the most impact. Business development : Work with our senior Partners to prospect, pursue, develop, and close new business for the firm. Experiences: Orchestrate private events and executive briefings - crafting agendas and owning all aspects of these day-long immersive experiences for visiting C-suite executives. Startup sourcing: Identify startups with the most compelling teams, tech and traction; create target lists, identify relevant recommendations and make direct connections between startups and Members. Market analysis: Perform in-depth research across trends, technologies, industries, corporations, and startups in order to extract key takeaways and organize them into curated insights and actionable opportunities for our Members. Synthesis: Organize insights on technology, emerging models, and trends into a compelling narrative that shapes/influences outcomes. Network building: Continuously build authentic relationships with startup founders and VC investors, while generating awareness and communicating our value proposition to the broader tech community. Mentoring: Mentor and guide more junior members of the team, providing critical feedback on work deliverables and guiding their professional growth at the firm. Platform development : Support internal initiatives to help us improve and scale internal operations and build our brand externally, e.g., through contributing to thought leadership and helping orchestrate external events. Desired Skills6-10+ years of proven performance in venture scouting and venture capital, business or corporate development, investment banking, or strategy consulting type roles Experience of prospecting and selling to enterprise clients (ideally for professional services companies) Fundamental passion for and broad knowledge of the technology industry Comfortable navigating the corporate hallways, while in parallel being highly embedded in the startup, venture capital, and influencer communities Born to serve, astute at building relationships, connecting the dots between players, architecting relevant and high-value introductions, follow-up to gauge the effectiveness and foster next steps Exceptional drive and self-starter with integrity, authenticity, and a healthy dose of humility Strategic aptitude, maturity, and deep curiosity essential High degree of ownership of work product, project management of own and other’s time and exceptional attention to detail Exceedingly positive attitude and willingness to roll up sleeves in a startup environment - early to mid-stage startup experience a plus.
