As Purchasing Manager you will have full responsibility for a global spend of approximately 50M EUR where casted components are the most critical commodity with a supplier base located mainly in India, and supporting two manufacturing locations (Dubai, UAE and Cardiff, Australia).The position will be ideally based in Dubai and will report to the General Manager of Sykes Pumps. Given the high synergies with our products made in Varisco you will be expected to collaborate with the Varisco PC purchasing team as well as with other PC’s and with the PFL division. You will be a member of the Power Technique Purchasing Council.Main ResponsibilitiesYou work actively towards safeguarding a stable and reliable local and global supply base that enables the operation in both Dubai and Cardiff while reducing total material cost.You collaborate with your Manufacturing and Engineering colleagues and suppliers to safeguard our manufacturing plan is delivered On-Quality and On-Time.You stimulate and support cost reduction initiatives, ideally collaborating to realize synergies together with the Varisco Product Company.You are proactive and creative in identifying ways to reducing cost, benchmarking cost with other Product Companies and looking to consolidate Dubai and Cardiff spend and supplier base.Considering the criticality of the casted components that make up the Pump-End (or Pump Core) you actively drive supplier quality through rigorous and disciplined SQA processes.You safeguard supplier capacity and work towards reducing lead-times and optimizing inventories held in Dubai and Cardiff.You search actively to eliminate waste in the supply chain.You take an active role in the PCM (new product development) and PQM (quality) meetings – once these forums are initiated within Sykes.You ensure supplier awareness on Atlas Copco’s commitment towards environmental and social performance and our expectations to their adherence to our policies regarding safety, health, environment, and business ethics.You develop and lead a successful team of cohesive, competent, committed and result oriented people. You secure having the right person on the right position.Experience And Knowledge RequirementsYou have a technical background with a university degree in a relevant field (Mechanical Engineering or equivalent) and a proven track record driving sourcing strategies in the global industrial environment.You are innovative, curious and open minded by nature and have a good mix of Product Company / Operations understanding as well as commercial acumen.You have proven experience working with foundries and sourcing casted components.You also have dealt with, or understand, fabrication items (welding, coating and surface treatment processes) and machined components.You have a track record negotiating contracts and building supplier partnerships at high management levels and a solid understanding of supply chain management.You are task-driven and results-focused and are able to handle stress and multitask.You have strong interpersonal skills and are able to foster a collaborative working environment with colleagues across all levels.You are comfortable working and collaborating using Microsoft Office tools, preparing, following up, and presenting monthly reports and action plans.You’re analytically strong, and comfortable dealing with financials and spreadsheets.You have a strong ethical track record and fully embrace our Business Code of Practice, walking the talk at all times.You are able and willing to travel.
