Job Description
- Coordinates with the Operations Manager the execution of manufacturing schedules based on sales requirements and plant capacity.
- Coordinates with the Quality Manager the plant's total quality program.
- Confers with managers and their subordinates and other plant personnel on the application of continuous improvement methods and meeting production standards, and cost parameters.
- Reviews all recommendations for special machinery, and works closely with engineering personnel regarding product and process improvement and new product launches.
- Determines plant policies consistent with organization or corporate policies and directs and supervises the application of such policies to the plant's organization.
- Oversees the maintenance of buildings, and equipment, and plant security and protection.
- Reviews and approves recommendations of subordinates in matters of personnel or rate changes. Authorized to identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and quality systems.
- Authorized to initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality system.
- Authorized to represents the organization in the community and promotes the organization's goodwill and interests in community activities.
- Authorized to ensure plant personnel adherence to Safety Program.
- Authorized to ensure Plant's compliance to government and regulatory requirements such as OSHA, EPA, etc.
- Authorized to represent the needs of the customer in internal functions in addressing QMS and EMS requirements for Corrective & Preventive Actions.
- Authorized/Responsible to ensure that the plants Affirmative Action Plan is followed.
- Performs other essential functions as assigned.
- Provide leadership to all aspects of the manufacturing operations.
- Facilitate, coach, counsel and guide the manufacturing work group to ensure they can deliver year over year results.
- Educate, develop and motivate a manufacturing work group to achieve required production results.
- Develop and implement operating policies and procedures to achieve stated goals.
- Establish goals and objectives and assure performance of such is met at the lowest cost and highest quality.
- Strive for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes to ensure efficiencies and eliminate waste, and implement such plans through people, processes, procedures and equipment.
- Control and minimize labor overtime, freight and repair expenses.
- Provide business leadership that demonstrates commitment to plant goals on a day-to-day basis.
- Ensure effective interchange of information between all work groups.
- Create an environment where all employees are encouraged and developed to reach the full potential in meeting company goals.
- Exercise direct supervision over general supervisors and line supervisors with respect to production volume, cost and quality of production to meet production schedules and delivery dates.
- Meet financial objectives and goals by forecasting requirements, support the annual budget process.
- Review production costs and production quality and modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of plant.
- Direct and lead all operations to achieve monthly profit results with a focus on operations throughput.
- Ensure and oversee all EH&S & OSHA rules and regulations are in force.
- Facilitate and direct maintenance to optimize machinery utilization.
- With the Operation manager, develop and execute process annual plan, and budgets based on company goals and objectives;
- Develops policy, directs and coordinates safety activities in relation to the company corporate standards and OSHA compliance;
- Recommend and implement continuous improvement initiatives in order to increase quality, efficiency and safety;
- Support and enforce all company policies and procedures that relate to the Plant Manager’s areas of authority;
- Analyzes and controls plant expenditures to ensure conformity and budgetary requirements;
- Works with Plant Supervisor in planning, budgeting, organizing resources, executing work plans, monitors production and quality, coordinates priorities, resolves issues and participates in special projects and work schedules;
- Ensure site compliance to all labor, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Manage all production activities to ensure product quality, cost effectiveness and proper execution of duties;
- Recommend measures for continuous improvement in order to increase quality, efficiency and safety;
- Communicate with research and development as well as product management personnel to develop new product strategies.
- Plan, organize, direct and run optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
- Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping
Job Requirements
- Proven work experience as a Plant Manager
- Proven managerial experience
- Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation)
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
- Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
- Computer literacy
- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
- Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
- BS degree in Engineering or related field
