Job Role
- Recommend and execute modifications to the server environment in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.
- Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
- Perform other duties, as assigned.
Job Responsibilities and duties
Operations and Support
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions [maldet report - rkhunter report -security check]
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate data.
- Demonstrating the ability to diagnose complex customer application issues and provide quick and accurate solutions within a collaborative environment.
- Continuous configuration update, enhance, and innovate through our automation management systems.
Maintenance
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
- Upgrade and configure system software that supports Linux infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs.[3rdpary app - WordPress cms - any other software supported by Linux ]
- Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning.[monthly performance and resource usage report / Nagios - Munin ]
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
- Serve as the cornerstone for escalating server issues; provide timely response to customer escalations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or IT relevant is a plus
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in Information Technology Infrastructure and Systems Administration.
- Working Experience on Linux Systems; with its different distributions; an administration that includes but not limited to: installation, configuration, management .
- Working Experience on Virtualization using VMWare ESXi , HyperV , KVM .
- Preferred Experience on DevOps tools: Git, Ansible, docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Terraform .
- Experienced with the orchestration of Docker containers running on Kubernetes.
- Good knowledge of cloud service providers (AWS, Google, Azure).
- Experience with performance tuning and diagnosing system bottlenecks through root cause analysis.
- Experience with software management - installations, patching of OS/apps, etc.
- Experience with Monitoring software and solutions such as [ Prometheus, Nagios, Zabbix ,Grafana, New relic …etc.].
- Basic understanding of storage systems such as SANs and NASs
- Solid knowledge about Backup and Disaster Recovery policies and best practices.
- Knowledge of configuring and managing switches/firewalls will be an added advantage.
- Experience with compliance frameworks: PCI, ISO27001.
