Job Description

Purpose:

  • ​The premises assistant ensures that ICRC premises are clean and supervises a team of Housekeepers.

RELATIONSHIPS 

  • Internally, interacts with other ICRC employees and/or the users of ICRC premises.
  • Authorized to carry out purchases within the limits of the ICRC rules.

GENERAL DUTIES

  • Understands and adheres to the seven Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Understands and adheres to the ICRC Code of Conduct
  • Understands the roles of the components of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
  • Respects and observes staff regulations and security rules at all times
  • Represents the ICRC in a professional manner at all times
  • Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers
  • Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC
  • May be asked to perform tasks not covered in this job description and to provide support to other departments when necessary.

Accountability and Responsibility: 

  • Coordinates and manages the Housekeeping team in charge of cleaning ICRC premises. Carries out domestic duties when and if required.
  • Resolves minor issues related to ICRC premises/material and informs his/her hierarchical supervisor about more important ones.
  • Uses ICRC applications to create Service Requests (SRs) and Internal Requests (IRs) for premises related purchases and services.
  •  Manages a stock of cleaning-related products.
  • Ensures that those under his/her responsibility can work in safe and suitable conditions and with sufficient, appropriate material.
  • Organizes the work, creates spread sheets and uses resources that are available.
  • Supervises housekeeping staff assigned to ICRC premises and gives them basic training.
  • Performs regular visits to the ICRC premises and guest houses.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES 

  • Collects and shares information so as to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses
  • Represents the ICRC in an appropriate way during activities, in meetings and in the field, and avoids any activity that may reflect negatively on the ICRC’s image
  • Takes responsibility for their own professional learning and development

Job Requirements

  • Primary school education.
  • Very good knowledge of English.
  • Over 2 years' similar work experience.
  • Proficient level of MS office.
  • Knowledge of hygiene principles.
