Job Description

  • We are currently looking for a UX and Market Research Associate to join our fintech startup in Cairo (remote work may be possible, but you must be located in Egypt). 
  • You will be helping the team better understand how our new mobile and web apps will be used and what our target market’s needs are, with regard to both product offering and UX design.  
  • You’ll be conducting research to learn how users interact with our apps while incorporating UX design principles to help improve our products. 
  • This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in building new fintech solutions that can make a real difference in simplifying banking, payments, and money management for individuals and SMEs around the world.  
  • Your new role: 
  • As our new UX and Market Researcher, you will ensure that our mobile wallet app is centred around the needs of our users. 
  • The role will include development of user personas and customer journeys and organising and running UX user testing for our products.
  •  You'll be responsible for planning, designing, and carrying out research activities to ensure our design and product teams truly understand the targeted consumers who will use our mobile app and browser-based platforms. 

Key responsibilities and duties: 

  • Devise plans for carrying out user research across a range of different target groups/audiences.
  • Develop target customer personas.
  • Research and create user journeys for the different personas.
  • Record, map and present findings to the wider team.
  • Map our user journeys covering the entire customer lifecycle (awareness, consideration, on-boarding, usage/engagement, retention and loyalty, advocacy and word of mouth), with a focus on audience segmentation across multiple tiers of product offerings.
  • Identify needs and pain points unique to our targeted customers.
  • Identify specific UX/UI, content, messages, texts, and creative that will resonate with the consumers.
  • Understand problems that our design and product teams are trying to solve for and align user research to inform appropriate outcomes and solutions.
  • Develop recommendations for our mobile wallet app and web-based platform based on your research, summarise findings and update customer journey maps accordingly.
  • Present clear findings and recommendations to design and product teams.
  • Work with UX design, marketing, and product teams to devise and implement priorities where UX findings can improve our new apps.
  • Screen and recruit users for research and testing. Ensure a wide range of users, needs, abilities and complexities are included.
  • Establish contact with different persona representatives for further research. Engage with key stakeholders to carry out appropriate testing sessions.

Job Requirements

  • We're looking for a self-starter with significant UX experience and the confidence to both lead UX research projects and present your results to the larger team in clear, actionable ways.   
  • You will be fluent in English, with a deep understanding of both UX principles and marketing research and strategy.
  • We are looking for a pro-active, hands-on researcher who can plan, design, and conduct user surveys and target market research with an eye toward improving user experience for our forthcoming payments app.
  • Our ideal candidate will also have an existing understanding of the local market. In this role, you will help build a deep understanding of local consumers’ needs regarding banking, payments, and financial management.

What you will need to succeed: 

  • You should have previous experience contributing to the development of UX design and best practices for consumer-facing web and mobile apps, and other online services.
  • Understanding of Interaction and Service Design.
  • Strong presentation and communications skills. This will be critical for working not only with a diverse population of users for testing, but also for working with our international product, design, and marketing teams.
  • Capable of using a range of UX research methods and techniques, ensuring you adhere to ethical research standards and practices.
  • Experience in planning and running user research sessions, using qualitative and quantitative data to formulate solutions and recommendations.
  • Ability to summarise and clearly present user research to effectively highlight issues that need investigating.
  • Experience in influencing and collaborating with others to ensure research findings feed into actions.
  • A deep understanding of UX best practices and how interaction and service design impacts customer adoption and product acceptance.
  • Knowledge and experience in building audience personas and customer journey maps, keeping up to date with the latest techniques and best practices.
  • Most importantly, you will have a deep awareness of consumer trends, preferred channels, shopping and payment practices, and social media usage for the target market consumers.
