Job Description

  • Core Objectives   :
  • Responsibility for the development, performance and delivery all of the facilities to the school to produce smooth and efficient service and delivery solution, maximizing performance & profitability against pre-agreed targets.
  • To be responsible for all aspects of the School’s facilities management and premises staff to ensure the cleanliness, safety and security of the school buildings and grounds at all times.
  • To contribute to school decisions regarding premises management and development.

Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical systems would be beneficial

  • Main Duties and Responsibilities           :
  • Receive and respond to requests from building occupants; assign, coordinate, schedule and self-perform maintenance tasks
  • Draw up maintenance schedules and set routine programs of work for cleaning staff, premises and grounds maintenance staff to ensure consistently high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, upkeep and safety of all school buildings and premises.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of playing fields, gardens, all weather surfaces and to ensure the maintenance of boundaries, footpaths, roads and rights of way within the school premises.
  • Ensure that all statutory elements of health and safety are implied and undertaking responsibility for monitoring first aid and emergency supplies and equipment and maintaining the premises in a safe and healthy condition and to a high standard.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the school’s risk management, including ensuring all necessary risk assessments are completed and the necessary checks are in place to meet all audit requirements.
  • Responsible for the line management of all premises and ground maintenance staff, to include participating in their recruitment and selection, identifying their training needs and drawing up their program of work.
  • Responsible for the ordering and checking of invoices, monitoring of budgets and keeping stock records of all equipment and tools within the potholders’ sphere of responsibility.
  • Ensuring that the team understands its duties and its role within the school.
  • Manage, direct and monitor facilities activities and the overall performance of the team to the school to increase efficiency and maximize performance
  • Effective liaison, support and assistance with the whole of the school.
  • Maintain and improve mechanisms for the provision of facilities, including surveying and measuring the process, outcomes and profitability and disseminate feedback to the appropriate internal entities
  • Utilize agreed systems to manage facilities functions, analysis and documenting the development of ongoing plans for facilities to achieve targets
  • Support to all other departments with facilities related needs
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the grading of the post as required
  • Submitting reports and making written recommendations.
  • Ensuring workflow & processes documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Applying process methodology and enforcing school standards
  • Constantly monitor and report on the progress of the operational tasks to the functional manager.

Job Requirements

  • Skills :
  • Planning and Project Management Skills
  • Financial Planning and Negotiating Skills with the ability to manage a budget
  • Ability to search for solutions to seemingly complex issues
  • Ability to work effectively both in collaboration with other professionals/teams and also on own initiative
  • Excellent IT skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word Essential Knowledge Base Knowledge of relevant health and safety requirements
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Work will be both indoor and outdoor and require long periods of movement and activity.

Qualifications :

  • A minimum of five years’ experience working in facility management preferred. Supervisory and management experience a plus.
  • Strong computer skills; proficient in professional software, common online programs, as well as basic end-user technical support.
