Job Description

  • Makes decisions as to the appropriateness of USGAAP and execute the accounting decisions throughout a global structure.
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and a strong working knowledge of SAP to develop simplified work processes to complete all statutory recording and reporting requirements with accountability to outside 3rd party shareholder interests. Success is measured by identifying and eliminating process defects and leveraging best practice within the function.
  • Complete all necessary tax reporting requirements.
  • Constantly review and monitor events/transactions which could impact quality of data and where necessary, take immediate action to influence work and accounting practices
  • Responsible to ensure all tax planning, and tax audits activities are carried out flawlessly.
  • Responsible for managing income tax audits, tax compliance for fixed assets for Egyptian legal entities. The general area of tax includes specialty areas of tax includes transactional tax, tax planning and external tax audits.
  • In depth knowledge of Regional Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (‘GAAP’) is required to be able to provide a complete comprehensive and accurate tax compliance or analysis position. This role requires broad problem solving skills and creativity to recognize tax planning opportunities in business transactions. The real value in the role is cantered upon tax planning, audit defence and minimization of taxes on transactions.
  • Ability to identify those situations where we need to develop and explain (understanding of the law) the economic consequences of alternative strategic analysis of different fact patterns and to calculate the impact to the financial statements – both from a balance sheet and income statement (earnings per share) perspective.
  • External tax audits requires a strong understanding of the company systems, including the Global Transfer Pricing Policy as there is an increased trend in the number of challenges from the tax authorities.
  • Strong problem/conflict resolution and negotiation skills. Effectively deliver full root cause analysis and solution.  Initiative and ability to implement solution with little to no guidance from immediate manager. Must be accountable for decisions and actions.
  • Working independently with business and functional leaders, using strong business acumen and financial experience, apply broad in-depth knowledge of domestic and International tax laws to review, analyse and recommend valuable after-tax planning opportunities. This role requires an innovative thinker willing to take calculated risks.
  • Working closely with other members of the department and other functions, mentor and leverage individual talents, to complete accurate and supportable statutory income tax compliance requirements with the goal of minimizing overall income tax expense. Reliable data to complete this function typically comes from a number of sources requiring strong interpersonal skills (i.e. communication, team building, recognition, etc).
  • Coordinate the completion of tax queries with other members of the department and interact with tax auditors to facilitate a timely and professional completion of the audit. With the increased trend in the number of challenges from tax authorities, this position requires strong problem/conflict resolution and negotiation skills and an ability to work closely with outside counsel to prepare supportable defences.

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience in finance & Taxes
  • Certified Chartered Accountant
  • Postgraduate studies of US Generally Accepted Accounting Policy (USGAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and Generally Accepted Accounting rules
  • Continued education on Tax rules and regulations
  • Very Good – Excellent command of English language

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • Post graduate diploma in Taxation / Masters in Taxation
