Coordination and Grant Manager, Aswan Skills Development Programme

Location:                    Aswan (with some flexibility to work between Aswan and Cairo), Egypt 

Background

Om Habibeh Foundation (OHF) is currently operating in Aswan a seven-years skills development initiative entitled “The Aswan Skills Development Programme (ASDP)” in collaboration with the Aga Khan Foundation, Egypt (AKF, Egypt) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC).  ASDP focuses on improving the livelihoods of 6,000 young women and men in Aswan City and Kom Ombo District.  This is achieved through strengthening the quality and range of vocational and technical training programmes, as well as professional development programmes to young women and men in Aswan Governorate. 

To achieve this goal, ASDP focuses on:

  • Improving prospects for employment and employability for young women and men in Aswan city and Kom Ombo;
  • Enhancing job creation opportunities (including through self-employment, entrepreneurship) for young women and men in Aswan city and Kom ombo; and
  • Strengthening local gender and environmentally sensitive labour market system to support young women and men in Aswan and Kom Ombo in entrepreneurship and employability.

Om Habibeh Foundation is seeking to recruit top-level candidates excited about the opportunity to shape the future of Upper Egypt’s technical, vocational, and professional education landscape, in collaboration with the private sector, government and international partners.

Position Objectives: 

 To provide support and assistance to ASDP Senior Manager in various aspects of the project administrative and grant writing functions through the coordination between the managers of project’s components.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Prepares written inputs for the formulation of annual work plans, (AWP) and planning and sequencing of activities for all ongoing projects.
  • Provides inputs to detailed implementation plans.
  • Assists in formulation of budgets.
  • Assists in periodic revision of AWPs and procurement plans.
  • Prepares semi-annual and annual donor reports.
  • Coordinates implementation with, and between, the project partner ensuring effective information flows between partners.
  • Prepares inputs and provides support to organization of Project Team meetings.
  • Organizes and coordinates project meetings, reviews, and site visits.
  • Monitors performance of contractors (consultants, companies).
  • Supervises the integration of environmental sustainability principles into the ASDP activities.

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience: 

  • A degree in the field of international relations/development.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience including field experience. 
  • Excellent command of English. 
  • Excellent writing skills combined with research skills., 
  • Excellent strategic planning, problem solving and critical thinking skills; with a track record for translating strategic thinking into action plans and outcomes.
  • Familiarity with donor reporting requirements such as results-based management by Global Affairs Canada.
  • Personal initiative, creativity, and drive.
  • Sensitivity with respect to communications and differences in dealing with people from different cultures.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Good working knowledge of commonly used software (Microsoft, Adobe suites, and web content management systems).
